Bridgerton Season 3 Is Already Repeating Its Worst Season 2 Mistake
The writers seem to never learn.
Summary:
- Season 3 of Bridgerton, which just premiered on Netflix, follows the love story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington.
- Even though the show changed showrunners between seasons 2 and 3, it seems that fans still have the same problem with the new season.
- Many believe that Bridgerton adds too many subplots to the season, taking away screen time and attention from the main characters.
While there is nothing more exciting than seeing your favorite TV show back with a new season after more than 2 years of waiting, Bridgerton fans' excitement has been somewhat spoiled by the way Season 3 has been handled so far.
Not to mention the Netflix split that will make fans wait another month to get the second part of the season, but it also seems like the showrunner as well as the writing team didn't listen to a single ounce of criticism that fans had for season 2. Now that season 3 is repeating the same mistakes, it feels like Bridgerton will never escape this repetitive cycle.
Is Bridgerton Season 3 Better Than Season 2?
First of all, season 3 introduces another love triangle to the story. Daphne and Simon had their moment of doubt when the Queen introduced them to the Prince, Kate and Anthony tried to dance around their feelings while Anthony was courting Edwina, and now Pen and Colin also got their symbolic third wheel in the face of Lord Debling.
This character has been introduced throughout the series, and his appearance has fans wondering if Bridgerton is going to lean into the love triangle trope with every love story, no matter what the plot is. But that's not the only issue fans seem to have with season 3.
Just like season 2, season 3 fell victim to a variety of subplots. While season 2 was supposed to focus on Kate and Anthony, but got swallowed up by Lord Featherington's scam and Eloise's search for Lady Whistledown, Colin and Penelope's season 3 had the same problem with another story.
In 4 episodes we already saw Kate and Anthony on their second honeymoon, Benedict charming a widow, Lady Danbury's brother back in Mayfair, the Featheringtons fighting for the estate, Eloise and Cressida's friendship, Francesca's first season and of course the Mondriches making their way into high society.
While there was still plenty of time to spend with the season's main characters, it was sometimes hard to focus on them with so much going on at once. Also, this issue raises the question of Shondaland's lack of response to valid points of criticism.
When Will Season 3 Part 2 Be Released?
If you want to see if season 3, part 2 of Bridgerton will repeat the same mistakes or focus more on Colin and Penelope, be sure to tune in to Netflix on June 13 to be the first to find out.
