Bridgerton Season 3 Already Repeated Season 2's Worst Mistake
Let’s just hope it won’t take 6 episodes this time around.
Summary:
- Bridgerton is a Netflix and Shondaland series based on Julia Quinn's book franchise of the same name.
- Each season of the show follows a different Bridgerton sibling and explores various classic romance tropes.
- In season 2, the drama was built around a love triangle between Anthony Bridgerton and two sisters, Kate and Edwina Sharma.
- According to the new details about season 3, Bridgerton is heading towards another love triangle and fans are not happy about it.
One thing about Bridgerton is that every single person who enjoys romance as a genre will find something to like about the show. Based on a book series in which each novel delves deep into the love life of one of the Bridgerton siblings, the show works on the same principle, bringing one of them to the forefront with each new season.
Season 1, also known as the story of Daphne and Simon, featured the classic "fake dating" trope and ended with the two getting married and having their first child together. Season 2 followed the romance of Anthony and Kate, which was meant to be an enemies-to-lovers story, but also ended up as a giant love triangle.
Now that season 3, which will focus on Colin and Penelope and is supposed to be the embodiment of the friends-to-lovers trope, is right around the corner, more and more people are worried that there may be another love triangle in the making. Looking back at Kate and Anthony, viewers aren't sure they want history to repeat itself.
Bridgerton Season 3 New Characters
What is unique about season 3 of Bridgerton is that it will be telling a love story of a character that already exists in the universe, rather than introducing a new romantic interest for the main character. Just like Colin Bridgerton, Penelope Featherington has been developing as a character since season 1, so there is a lot of background to consider.
However, that doesn't mean the show won't be bringing someone new into the mix. As revealed by Shondaland, Colin will not be the only competitor for Penelope's hand. Lord Debling, portrayed by Sam Phillips, is another gentleman who will manage to catch the lady's eye. Though eccentric, he could be a very attractive suitor.
“Lord Debling is seen as an outsider. He lives on the fringes of society, and he is after a love match this season; he’s after someone who goes against the grain, someone who is a little bit of an outsider like him,” Phillips described his character.
Of course, it would be nice to see Penelope finally get the attention she has always deserved. However, fans feel that Lord Debling may become more of a threat to her relationship with Colin. After Shondaland spent 6 out of 8 episodes forcing the love triangle on Kate and Anthony, it doesn't seem far-fetched to do the same this season.
Hopefully, the existing triangle will be dealt with in a couple of episodes so that Bridgerton can actually focus on a main couple this time. If you are interested in seeing Polin finally come to life after 2 seasons of one-sided pining, tune in to Bridgerton on Netflix on May 16 to not miss the premiere of the first part.
