Bridgerton S4 Predictions: Benedict's Struggles Make Him the Perfect Next Lead
Fans feel that Benedict Bridgerton is adrift and needs an anchor. His own love arc would be perfect for that.
While each new season of Bridgerton focuses on a new sibling and their respective love story, other family members appear in the show as well, and fans have come to know and love many characters who have yet to be brought into the spotlight.
Benedict Bridgerton is certainly one of them. Luke Thompson's natural charisma and brilliant performance have earned his character a considerable following.
So when the second Bridgerton sibling was forced to cede his spot to his younger brother in Season 3, many viewers were less than thrilled. After all, in Julia Quinn's book series, Benedict's story comes right after Anthony's.
But the show's creators explained that changing the order felt more natural, and soon everyone seemed to come around to watching Colin and Penelope's story first. Now, fans even feel that it was probably for the best and that Season 3 could provide the perfect foundation for Benedict's chapter.
So far, despite the love from fans, Benedict seems to have been described in broad strokes. He hasn't had a ton of plotlines outside of his affair with famed dressmaker Madame Delacroix, his allyship with Henry Granville, one of the few queer characters in Bridgerton, and the art school storyline in Season 2.
Viewers see him struggle with identity and self-esteem. Being the second Bridgerton is not an easy cross to carry, and he longs for something other than the endless round of parties he attends every night. These struggles make him seem lost. And the fans believe that if addressed properly, they could actually provide good material for next season.
In the books, Benedict's romantic storyline is a classic Cinderella tale with a mysterious girl who leaves an article of clothing (in Bridgerton's case, a glove) at a masquerade and a prince who searches everywhere for her.
So fans feel that Benedict's constant search for the meaning of life could turn into a literal search for a girl next season. Not only could this give his character the purpose he has lacked in previous seasons, but it could also serve as the perfect beginning to the big story of Season 4.
Hopefully, the Bridgerton writers will listen to the fans, agree with what they have to say, and not delay Benedict's relationship arc any longer.
