Bridgerton S3 Seems To Ignore Colin Whatsoever, Fans Are Confused

After so many months of impatiently waiting and constantly nagging the production team to release anything season 3 related, Bridgerton fans can finally rest assured that the season they've been waiting for so long is coming their way.

Over the past few weeks, Bridgerton's social media team has been very generous with pre-Christmas gifts for its fans. Starting with the season 1 Rewatch Party on Instagram, which was accompanied by lots of behind-the-scenes secrets, photos and videos, and ending with a whole bunch of images from season 3.

As a cherry on top of all that, another official poster for season 3 was released, but this one final gift confused fans the most: Just like the first poster with a photo of Penelope Featheringtron near the window, the second one seems to focus on her as well.

Considering that Colin is part of the titular family and Penelope is not (yet), the audience is confused as to why he is being ignored by his own season's promotion.

How Bridgerton Season 3 Is Different From The Book?

The focus on Penelope isn't surprising, considering how different the story of her and Colin's relationship will be from the original book.

Julia Quinn's Romancing Mister Bridgerton was a hit, but it was set up very differently than the Colin and Penelope of the show. There are no huge time jumps in the Netflix and Shondaland production, and Penelope isn't too interested in becoming an old maid anymore.

Instead, she's going to try to repair her social standing, while Colin, being the good friend that he is, will offer to help her appear more attractive to the ton's most eligible bachelors.

While the book was written mostly from Penelope's perspective, it's not surprising that the show will follow the same pattern, just giving the character a little more power. After all, this is the season of Lady Whistledown herself, and it would be odd to assume that she'd take a step back just to give Colin a spot to shine.

Though the change promises an intriguing pot, not everyone is in favor of such a change. Some fans are excited to see female characters finally take center stage, but others, questioning Penelope's morality, would rather see more of Colin and learn more about his thoughts.

Ultimately, the show will find a balance between the two. But to see how season 3 will come to life, you'll have to wait until it premieres on May 16, 2024. Until then, you can watch the two previous seasons on Netflix.
