Shondaland’s biggest secret is still safe.

Summary:

  • Bridgerton is a Shondaland and Netflix adaptation of Julia Quinn's book series of the same name.
  • The show recently premiered its 3rd season based on Colin's novel Romancing Mister Bridgerton.
  • While many fans suspected that season 4 would be based on Benedict's love story, his season 3 storyline makes them doubt that theory.

To say that the new season of Bridgerton is one of the biggest events for Netflix this year would be an understatement. Given the show's popularity and the fact that it takes about two years to make another season, fans have already rushed to watch the first installment and share their thoughts on social media.

And even though the second part of the season has yet to be released and will only be released on June 13th, the first part made such an impression that it will be enough to keep the fandom talking for another month. Especially when it comes to all the theories about the season 4 arc.

Who Will Be Bridgerton Season 4 Lead?

While everyone appreciates the love story between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington that blossoms before our eyes, one of the best things about the show is how it keeps changing. Next season, the couple will have to pass the baton to the next sibling looking for love.

If before the majority of the fandom believed that there was only one person who could be next in line to become a lead, now with all the new information to take in, people seem to have changed their minds.

Seeing Eloise make her way into society and grow to accept it, and Francesca fall in love with John Stirling, Benedict's fans began to worry about his fate. And given the lack of purpose that was evident not only to him in the universe, but also to the viewers on the other side of the screen, he may have gone completely stale now.

“For someone who strongly thinks that Benedict should be the lead for season four, the first part of the season makes it not look promising. <...> Granted he has given up art school, but they have not made his character as important in any other way and his relationship with lady Tilley was underwhelming,” Redditor Greybear_l said.

Unfortunately, they weren't the only ones who found Benedict's arc underwhelming and disappointing 4 episodes into the season. Instead of delving deep into his emotions and building a backstory to supposedly take his story to the next level, the writers sidelined his character and reduced him to silly faces and yet another fling.

Whether Benedict Bridgerton will be the lead in season 4, or he'll be skipped over again in favor of one of his sisters, fans are just hoping that the second part of season 3 offers a little more depth to his character, rather than a complete erasure.

If you are interested in seeing where season 3 part 2 takes not only Benedict, but every other character in the cast, be sure to tune in to Netflix on June 13 to not miss the premiere.
