Benophie fans, are you even ready for this?

Ever since Netflix announced that Bridgerton would skip Benedict’s story and focus on Colin’s in season 3, fans of Benedict and Sophie (Benophie) have been relentlessly searching for clues that their favorite couple will get to shine soon enough.

They have been quite successful as they believe that they have found evidence that Bridgerton has introduced a few hints at Sophie’s future appearance in the show. For instance, in season 2 Anthony says that it’s time to hire a new maid for Eloise, and this can easily turn out to be no one else but Sophie Beckett herself.

Eagle-eyed book readers have just found another hint at Benophie’s debut as soon as season 3, which they have shared on Reddit. In season 2, Anthony and Benedict strike up a conversation about poetry at one point, and Benedict expresses his distaste for Lord Byron.

He even goes so far as to say that many of his college mates consider Benedict’s works “far superior” to Byron’s poetry. Benedict gives his brother a piece of his mind regarding the art of the word and finishes off with the beautiful almost-poem about loving and admiring a woman. Why is this so important, you might ask?

Well, this piece of dialogue foreshadows Benedict and Sophie’s love story. In the original book by Julia Quinn, Benedict wants Sophie to read something off of his bookshelf, and she chooses poetry, asking him if she should pick Byron or Blake. Being a Byron hater, Benedict advises her to opt for Blake.

Some fans believe that Bridgerton’s decision to tell Colin and Penelope’s story in season 3 (after two seasons of building the premise up in the background) means that a new “background” couple-to-be is required, and Benedict and Sophie could be next.

If these season 2 clues are to be taken seriously, viewers might be meeting Sophie sooner, rather than later. Perhaps, she will become Eloise’s maid and have insightful poetry discussions with Benedict in season 3.

This way, writers will be able to tell their story more slowly, allowing more book details to be incorporated into the show and making more Bridgerton fans fall in love with Benophie ahead of their own season.
