Bridgerton, the hit Netflix drama that has captivated audiences with its lavish costumes, elaborate sets, and romance, is known for its wide range of steamy scenes.

And while the actors and production team have done an excellent job of creating intimate and realistic scenes with the help of props, there is one prop they used that was simply bizarre. So, without further ado, let's reveal this must-know secret!

It's no surprise that the television and film industries use props when filming in order to make the scenes appear more real to the audience. But you'll be surprised to find out that more often than not big-budget films and series prefer to get creative and utilize ordinary items instead of splurging on expensive customized props.

And that's exactly what the Bridgerton crew decided to do.

Actor Jonathan Bailey, who portrays Lord Anthony Bridgerton in the hit series, revealed to Radio Times that the main prop in their season 2 intimate scenes was, in fact, a deflated netball. "It's amazing what you can do with a half-inflated netball," he said.

What was the purpose of it, you might ask? Well, it turns out it allows the actors to move more freely during the sex scenes as it prevents their intimate parts from making physical contact as the rule is when two people are filming a sex scene, they must have three protective layers between them. According to Bailey, even though it's outright silly and sometimes creates goofy moments, this strange prop still makes filming intimate scenes less awkward for actors and the crew.

Too Old & Too Famous: Bridgerton Fans Don't Want Cavill Anywhere Near the Show

Now, you may be wondering which scenes, in particular, required the use of netball when there weren't that many sex scenes in season 2. It turns out, many didn't actually make it into the period drama, despite a lot more having been filmed. Lizzy Talbot, the intimacy coordinator of the show, revealed in one of her interviews that she's aware of fans being frustrated about the lack of sex scenes, however, the reason for this is they always want to give their absolute best.

Using a deflated netball is a creative and innovative way to create intimacy on screen, no doubt. It's clear that the Bridgerton team is willing to go to great lengths to create the most realistic and authentic intimate scenes possible for their viewers!
