When it comes to everyone's favorite Regency romp, we're team #Kanthony all the way.

Even though Bridgerton Season 1 had way more explicit scenes (seriously, remember Anthony having sex against a tree within the first three minutes?!) season 2 was way sexier. Probably because, in the true spirit of Regency romances, this season was much more restrained.

Nothing but heaving bosoms and intense, yearning stares occurred between Kate and Anthony until Episode 6 when they lept on each other at that altar.

However, when Reddit fans were recently asked when they thought Kate & Anthony's first kiss should have happened, not everyone agreed that the altar-smooch was the best choice.

Worst Bridgerton Subplot Fans Hope Won't Make a Comeback in Season 3

Some felt that after the intense moments the two had shared in semi-dark libraries and studies, the bright open church felt too public. Others simply felt that the two lovers leaping at each other was a bit anticlimactic compared to the slow-burn intimacies that had come before. Still, others wished that Kanthony had kissed sooner so that they could have paired up more quickly and allowed us to avoid that whole cringey wedding episode.

(It would be interesting to look at Netflix 's viewership data and see how many people skip that episode on re-watches. I know I do).

Here are some places that fans think Kanthony's first kiss could have happened, to more satisfaction all around:

In the library (Episode 4, "Victory")

The Sharma sisters were invited to the Bridgerton's country estate, with the intention of allowing Anthony and Edwina to become better acquainted. Instead, it was Kate and Anthony who forged a connection. By this point, Anthony and Kate have played Pall Mall and bickered on the hunting field.

Alone in the library during a thunderstorm, Anthony reveals how his father died and Kate visibly softens towards him. The mood is right… the outfits are scandalous… the chemistry is palpable. This scene got the most votes for where Kanthony's first kiss should have taken place, and I can't say I disagree.

In the library (Part 2!)

Same episode, same library (Probably? It's a big house). But this time Anthony's all hot and bothered that Kate is planning to leave the country. They've come to understand each other, and it's clear that it's not just vexation that they're feeling. It's so sexy! And intimate! Just kiss already! This was their last chance to get a smooch in before Anthony makes the disastrous mistake of proposing to Edwina, guaranteeing us an agonizing couple of episodes and delaying a moment that could have happened here quite naturally.

In the study (Episode 5, "An Unthinkable Fate")

Er… at least we think it's a study. What are all these rooms for, exactly?! At any rate, Kate drags Anthony off for a talk after he defends her family against her horrendous grandparents. She wants to convince him not to call off the wedding, but as usual, the conversation devolves into nose-touching and very heavy breathing. It doesn't get sexier than this situation, and this scene is way more intimate than they'll get at the altar.

In the closet (Episode 6, "The Choice")

When Kate spent a good chunk of this episode hiding in a closet, we all thought for sure that's where she and Anthony would finally hook up. After the disastrous wedding, he's no longer attached to her sister and their agonized meeting in the closet contained much more illicit attraction than their meeting at the altar a few minutes later. A kiss here wouldn't have spared us the awkward wedding scene, but at least it would have made a bit more sense than a very public pawing.
