Bridgerton Fans Still Can't Forgive Kate For That One Thing (Queen Charlotte Made It Worse)
Lady Danbury didn't put up such a fight for nothing.
There were many heartbreaking moments in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, but there were also many fierce and fierce moments that showed the women in power making their decisions and creating a better future for the ladies of the realm.
One of the anchors of this fight for women's rights was, of course, Lady Danbury, who focused specifically on negotiating equality for people of color.
Queen Charlotte really opened up her character, telling the story of a young woman who could have given up on life after being raised and forced into an unhappy marriage, but instead chose another path.
With that in mind, her treatment in season 2 of Bridgerton seems even more unfair than it did before.
Lady Danbury was kind enough not only to sponsor Edwina Sharma, but also to offer both sisters a place in her own home.
She knew Lady Sharma and her tragic love story, which was the reason she was shunned by society and ended up in India.
Her intention to help the girls find a better place in England was nothing but admirable, and yet she was met with some snide remarks from Kate.
Although Kate's motives are more understandable in retrospect, knowing about her struggle to allow herself to be loved and vulnerable, even at the expense of her sister's potential marriage, the moment really rubbed viewers the wrong way at the time.
Maybe Kate wouldn't know the social impact Lady Danbury had, growing up in India. Maybe, even in London, all the privileges were more associated with the Queen herself.
However, if you found this scene unsettling the first time you saw it, it would be even harder to watch again after Queen Charlotte.
If you are feeling a bit nostalgic and want to revisit the story of Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton in Bridgerton season 2, you can re-watch the season on Netflix.
