People are pretty fed up with Netflix changing the original storylines of Julia Quinn's books.

Long before Bridgerton became the romantic powerhouse that it is today, Quinn's romantic novel series appealed to millions of readers around the world, in no small part because of the realistic situations and high dramatic tension between its young aristocratic characters.

Of course, Netflix tried to be as faithful as possible in its adaptation of the story, but at some points, the show's creators simply couldn't resist the temptation to ramp up the drama. Don't get us wrong: Bridgerton is incredibly rewarding as a series, but the original books just did some things better.

Who Wore it Better? Bridgerton Fans Divided on Daphne and Edwina's Wedding Looks

Fans are especially sick of Netflix constantly using the love triangle as one of the cheapest tricks in the romance story lexicon. In season one, there was a love triangle involving Daphne, and in the second, there was one with Kanthony and Edwina, which never happened in the original novels.

Now that season three is just around the corner, fans fear that Penelope, the main character in the upcoming installment, may find herself in a love triangle with Eloise and Theo.

People are disappointed by the show writers' primary choice of tool for creating dramatic tension, arguing that there were only two love triangles in the original novels, and they were never as prominent as in the screen version.

What's more, fans wonder why the series shows jealousy as only possible when the other person is courting someone else's love interest, while in real life, jealousy can come out of nowhere.

Wouldn't it be more interesting if the writers added more realism to the characters' relationships in season three — instead of once again relying on the trite and cheap gimmick?

Of course, there are viewers who believe that love triangles are not a problem in themselves — but the shallow narrative is for sure. If some of these storylines had been handled more professionally, fans would not have been disappointed.
