It turns out that if you lead a questionable life, no one will believe in your murder.

Bridgerton is a show that follows many storylines at once, with all of them being almost equally important. Naturally, the Bridgerton family holds the central position in the show, but many more families have their own secrets and dramas.

One of the most interesting ones is actually the Featherington family. Both season 1 and 2 were full of dramatic events for them, but let's have a closer look on one particular life-changing event that took place at the end of the first season of the show.

Yes, of course we are talking about the presumed death of Mr. Featherington. Even though the police declared the man dead, the question of his disappearance still puzzles fans, as some of them still don't believe that he was murdered.

The thing is, Lord Archibald Featherington was a man with not a good soul, who seemed to have a rather questionable personality. He also had a gambling problem and therefore many enemies.

This addiction in fact destroyed his family. After gambling away the family fortune on boxing matches, he also sabotaged his daughter Philippa's chance to get married because he could not afford her dowry.

Seeking to recoup his money, Lord Featherington successfully made an under-the-table deal with boxer Will Mondrich. And for a while it even seemed like he got lucky, but in the end his match-fixing was discovered, and apparently he was murdered by some shady bookmakers.

What bothers the fans is the discovery of the money that was missing from the safe after his death. Many fans thought that Lord Featherington himself might have taken it and escaped. Or maybe something else happened.

“The money being gone confused me too though. Like, why would he take all of it with him to that brothel where he was killed? Maybe the gamblers broke in? But could they do that so easily without being noticed? Idk, very confusing,” Redditor nele_25_11 said.

However, the show’s reluctance to actually show Lord Featherington’s death is something that confuses fans the most. We only had the beginning of season 2, where the women of the family are shown in mourning clothes.

If you also feel like you missed out on something in the show, now might be the time to binge-watch Bridgerton on Netflix.
