The lack of announcements about the new Bridgerton season has fans on edge.

With its 3rd season on the way, Bridgerton is set to dive into the fan-favorite love story between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton. But fans feel that the creators are taking it too slow with the new chapter.

When it was announced that season 2 of Bridgerton would premiere on March 25, 2022, 15 months after the first part, fans weren't happy with such a long wait and Shonda Rhimes promised that there would be a shorter wait for seasons 3 and 4.

But it looks like the iconic showrunner hasn't been able to go through with her promises. This time around, fans are in for an even longer hiatus.

The filming of the new season is only finishing this month, and there are apparently a lot of re-shoots to be made.

On top of that, fans are expecting the post-production phase to take at least 4 months, as it did with the previous season. So we are looking at a hiatus of about 17 months for Season 3.

"We waited a year and three months for season 2. Now it's looking like we're waiting a year and a half. Are we expected to wait two years for season 4!?" a frustrated fan commented on Reddit.

The biggest delaying factor that has many fans up in arms is the studio's focus on the Bridgerton prequel, which will premiere on May 4.

The release date for the prequel came as an unpleasant surprise to many viewers who expected to see not only Queen Charlotte's story, but also Bridgerton Season 3 by that date.

But now, judging by the heavy marketing campaign for the spinoff, it is clear that the studio will be pushing Penelope and Colin's romantic storyline for a father date to give Queen Charlotte enough time to shine.

And it frustrates the fandom. While fans are eager to see more Bridgerton-related content and stories like Queen Charlotte, they are not willing to do so at the expense of the main series.

The prequel may be an exciting and anticipated experience, but many viewers want to finally catch up with the characters they've been attached to for two seasons and eight novels.

That's why any spinoffs have to come out between the seasons of the main show, not take their place.
