Bob Hearts Abishola Has Its Main Cast Slashed From 13 to 2: Can It Still Work?
The more the merrier, or less is more? We are about to find out.
Fans of various TV shows are familiar with the constant cast changes that their favorite shows go through from season to season.
The showrunners usually lose some minor characters or add some new ones who later become the main part of the story or just stay on the show as guest stars.
But the changes that the series Bob Hearts Abishola just went through are something new... The CBS sitcom has just cut almost all of the main cast of the show, leaving only 2 out of 13 for the upcoming season 5.
The decision may seem really shocking as it raises a lot of questions about how successful the show could be without its main cast.
The show follows Bob Wheeler, the owner of a compression sock company in Detroit, who falls in love with Abishola, a nurse at Woodward Memorial Hospital. And the main plot of the show is how their relationship develops.
But there were a lot of other major storylines about the people around them, and fans were still hoping to get more of those. However, it seems like there will be nothing left of that in the new season.
Throwing out almost everyone except Bob and Abishola means that there will definitely be less attention paid to the minority of characters left in the show.
In fact, the writers will focus even more on the couple and their relationship over the course of another year.
However, this kind of role reduction could easily make the show feel too formulaic and even uninteresting to follow. So it seems we'll just have to wait and see how such an experiment works out in the world of TV sitcoms.
The show will return on CBS in fall 2023.
