Blue Bloods' Writing Just Keeps Getting Worse, and Eddie Scenes Prove It
The fans of the CBS police procedural think that Eddie's character becomes more and more annoying as the show progresses.
Over its 13-season run, Blue Bloods fans have come to expect the show to be as reliable as the Reagan clan itself. As sure as Reagan's Sunday dinners, long-time viewers can set aside several Friday nights a year to sit in front of the TV and enjoy the vibe of the blue-blooded family bond mixed with well-written, suspenseful storylines.
However, Season 13 has proven that nothing can be taken for granted.
With each new episode, fans are noticing that the writing for the show is gradually deteriorating, especially when it comes to Eddie Reagan's dialogue and storylines. And fans are not holding back their disapproval, taking to social media to vent their frustration.
"Why do they write Eddie as so immature? She is a grown woman near 40 and they have her talk and act like a naive teenager sometimes," one of the fans wondered on Reddit.
This is even more upsetting since Eddie was a fan-favorite character who changed the dynamic of the show in Season 4 when she joined the 12th Precinct as Jamie Reagan's new partner. Their relationship, which gradually developed into true love over the course of several seasons, became an exciting spectacle for viewers.
But now fans feel that Eddie has had too many storylines in recent episodes, and most of them have been unwatchable because the character has often been too much. Fans describe Eddie as a "pain in the ass" for being smug, pushing people around, not listening to them, and constantly arguing with everyone.
In both her professional and personal life, she seems to think she knows more than everyone else and is insanely insubordinate. Instead of dealing with her work problems the way a police officer should, Eddie prefers to go to Jamie whenever she doesn't like something. Such a habit is not only annoying, but completely out of character for Eddie, who used to be a badass in earlier seasons.
The Sopranos' Writers Room Drama Led to Birth of Blue Bloods
It seems that in order to keep the huge Blue Bloods audience glued to the screen, the writers need to rethink their approach and give Eddie better storylines and dialog. Probably, going back to the way she was in the earlier seasons would help her regain her fan base.
