Benedict Cumberbatch’s New Netflix Thriller Can Beat Stranger Things in Its Own Field

Good news for Sherlock and Doctor Strange ’s star’s fans — a new thriller show Eric with Benedict Cumberbatch in the leading role is coming to Netflix this May.

The six-episode limited series may become a real boon not only for the actor’s admirers, but also for those who enjoy on-the-edge-of-the-seat thrilling shows like Stranger Things the last season of which will also come to Netflix, but only next year.

Introduced with an image that he’s not really prone to, Cumberbatch portrays puppeteer Vincent living in New York in the 1980s with his 9-year-old son Edgar who suddenly goes missing.

Desperate to find the child, the character starts looking for all possible ways to find out what happened to Edgar which later on results in Vincent’s highly deranged behavior that alienates him from the rest of the family.

As the time passes by and the boy is still gone, Vincent, who runs a very popular show for children called Good Day Sunshine, becomes haunted by the feeling of guilt that brings him even more distress.

One day he discovers his son’s drawing with a blue monster called Eric on it — and this brings Vincent to the idea that getting Eric to the TV screen may help Edgar to come back home.

As the official synopsis claims, the fictional monster will become the only reliable ally in Vincent’s eyes which gives an idea of the whole series dealing with serious psychological issues.

Except for Benedict Cumberbatch, the show also stars Gaby Hoffmann, McKinley Belcher III, Dan Fogler, Clarke Peters and Ivan Howe.

Eric is set to be released on Netflix on May 30.
