Bella Swan We Lost: Jennifer Lawrence Almost Starred in Twilight
This Oscar-winning actress seems to have everything one could ever want, but even she had a few bumps on her road to stardom.
Back in 2008, Twilight, the first installment of the vampire saga, just came out and completely broke the internet and the world.
Shortly before that, Stephenie Meyer along with the casting people had gone out of their way to find the perfect Bella Swan.
While Kristen Stewart ultimately got the part, Lily Collins, Emily Browning, Michelle Trachtenberg, Sara Paxton, and Jennifer Lawrence herself were all initially considered!
Most of the potential Bellas went on to become successful actresses. Lily Collins gained recognition after starring in 2009's The Blind Side and is currently playing the lead role in the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris.
Emily Browning climbed the career ladder in 2011 when she was cast as Babydoll in Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch and then played a main role in American Gods for three seasons.
Michelle Trachtenberg showcased her talent in a recurring role in Gossip Girl, and Sara Paxton appeared in an episode of the Twin Peaks revival in 2017.
Jennifer Lawrence is probably the only one whose career is better off without Twilight. The star has recently dropped by The Howard Stern Show to talk about her experience in the industry.
Lawrence confirmed that she auditioned for Bella Swan back in the day and "didn't know what it [Twilight] was" at the time.
She went on to explain that as an aspiring actor, she auditioned for "all sorts of things" and was usually given "five pages" that she was supposed to act off of. Sounds pretty tough, doesn't it?
Jennifer recalled that she was extremely surprised when the movie came out because of the immense fan love it received, although she said that didn't feel "jealous" despite not getting the part.
Why would she? Two years after the release of Twilight, Lawrence got her breakthrough role in 2010's Winter's Bone.
A year later, she received worldwide recognition as Mystique in X-Men: First Class, and another year later, we all fell in love with Jennifer's Katniss in The Hunger Games.
Later in the interview, the actress admitted that she had just one regret about the role she didn't get, and that was Alice in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.
She remembered feeling "devastated" when she didn't get it and apparently talked about it with Emma Stone ( who Jennifer used to always audition for the same roles with).
The iconic part eventually went to Mia Wasikowska, and fans wouldn't have it any other way.
Despite missing out on both Alice in Wonderland and Twilight, Jennifer Lawrence still managed to find her own way to Hollywood and fame. Maybe we'll see her in the Twilight reboot though?
