Brace yourselves, as a horror remake of the beloved childhood story Bambi is about to be unleashed upon the world.

No joking, the movie is officially in the works from people who have graced us with Winnie-the-Pooh brutally murdering people in the recent Blood and Honey movie.

The first details about the movie alone can start destroying your childhood memories. Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the director of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, will produce the Bambi reimagining.

Scott Jeffrey will direct the movie for the same studios that previously brought us the Blood and Honey low-budget slasher. Against all odds, Blood and Honey became a surprise box office hit.

Looks like we're in for another extremely bloody ride here. Horror film site Dread Central reports that the upcoming gory feature will be titled Bambi: The Reckoning.

After Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey infamously transformed Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet into terrifying creatures killing people with over-the-top cruelty, it's now a Disney darling's turn.

Apparently, the upcoming movie will be just as graphic, or even more so. Scott Jeffrey teases "an incredibly dark retelling" of a beloved 1928 story. Like that wasn't enough, Bambi is to become a "vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness".

With The Reckoning in its title, one might assume that the most violent death awaits those hunters who killed Bambi's mother.

And that very passing of Bambi's mother is what made the original story tragic in the first place. Perhaps a horror spin on it wouldn't be that traumatic. We'll see.

"This must be a re-release because Bambi is already horror," Redditor MidnightIsland212 reacts to the news.

Using both A. A. Milne's characters and Bambi became possible due to the fact that those intellectual properties have now fallen into public domain.

The same goes for example for Sherlock Holmes, although modern filmmakers took a slightly less bloodthirsty approach there.

No details are known at the time as to when this slaughter fest of everything we love and cherish will premiere.
