Anne Hathaway Falls for a Band Boy in a One Direction Coded Rom-Com on Prime

The 2010’s One Direction fever brought not only lots of fanfiction and novels inspired by its members, but a number of movies based on them, some of which have become hugely popular.

The main example of this are After movies, which protagonist was written off from Harry Styles, the 1D lead singer. A new Prime Video original goes the same path, imbuing their adaptation with even more and clearer boy band stylistic.

The Idea of You, based on Robinne Lee’s book of the same name, tells a story of a 40-year-old single mom Solène (portrayed by Anne Hathaway), who unexpectedly falls in love with a hugely popular boy band lead singer, Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine).

The trailer showcases how the two met at Coachella where the spark between them was obvious, and since then their relationship, complicated by the constant paparazzi’s surveillance and 16-year-old age difference, starts to develop.

The R-rated movie is going to feature how a young sex symbol, who is always in the center of social media’s attention, can approach a grown woman with her career and parenting obligations and build something beautiful together, in spite of people’s opinion on such a couple.

When Solène, Hathaway’s character, asks “What about what people will say?”, Galitzine's Hayes tenderly and at the same time strictly responds, “I don’t care what they say.”

As for the degree by which Hayes, a lead singer of the fictional band August Moon, is really inspired by Harry Styles, the author of the adapted book fairly admitted “the seed was planted” by the 1D star.

Given the synopsis of The Idea of You, some parallels between the onscreen star and Styles can obviously be drawn: the singer was (and is) always surrounded by cameras, who interfere with his personal life too. Besides, the juicy detail here is that he really dated some older women, just as the movie’s character.
