Anime Easter Egg in TMNT: Mutant Mayhem You May Have Missed
The trailer for Seth Rogen's upcoming animated film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, was recently released to much fanfare.
But it turns out there was also an unexpected Easter egg that almost no one noticed.
One of the frames shows Donatello with his classic weapon – a staff. But this time it has new elements that made fans even more eager for the release of the animated film.
One of the Twitter users jjkstroll noticed that on the staff there is clearly an image of one of the heroes of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime — Satoru Gojou.
One can sympathize with the fans of this anime, because the first season was released back in 2020, but until recently, there was no information on a potential sequel. So the discovery made waves in the fandom.
The audience loved the fact that Donatello seems to be an anime fan to the point that he has his favorite characters on his weapon.
Later it turned out that not only Satoru Gojou's image was on the staff, but also Sailor Moon's Crystal Star. Well, he's definitely a confirmed anime fan now.
Fans agree that the attention to such small details, which most people will not even notice, shows that the creators have taken good care of their project.
"I really have high hopes for Seth Rogan's vision. The more I see the more I believe he's doing this as a personal passion project for him because he's a true fan and not just trying to grab cash from raping my generation's nostalgia like M.Bay," Reddit user Random_Monstrosities commented.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will be released on August 4, 2023 and will be a reimagining of the classic cartoon where Ninja Turtles protect New York from mutants.
The animation's voice cast includes stars such as Paul Rudd, Giancarlo Esposito, Jackie Chan and John Cena, raising fans' hopes for an exciting adventure with old turtle friends.
As for Jujutsu Kaisen, fans recently received the great news that the second season will be released on July 23, 2023. It will be divided into two parts, each focusing on a different arc.
And Satoru Gojou will be there as well (a certain Ninja Turtle is probably on cloud nine).
