Andrew Garfield Is Taking A Break From Acting, Here's His 3 Most Underrated Roles

After a stellar 2021, having received an Oscar nomination, a Golden Globe award for his leading turn in 'tick, tick...BOOM!', and universal acclaim for his heartfelt performance as Spider-Man in 'No Way Home', Andrew clearly wants some well-deserved rest.

"I need to recalibrate and reconsider what I want to do next and who I want to be and just be a bit of a person for a while. Because as you know, that is a washing machine, that awards season. I need to just be a bit ordinary for a while," actor told Variety.

A truly underrated American cinema masterpiece, worth to revisit its forgotten legacy.

Silence, 2016 (dir. Martin Scorsese )

Martin Scorsese's groundbreaking three-hour film about Christian missionaries on the forgotten shores of seventeenth-century Japan went mostly unnoticed when it first premiered. But over time, more and more critics have been compelled to reconsider this stunning film about the nature of faith, especially Garfield's confident performance as a young priest struggling with a crisis of faith. Starring alongside Adam Driver and Liam Neeson, Garfield is truly mesmerizing, putting all his acting skills into making his performance a real success. A must-see for history buffs and Garfield aficionados.

Under the Silver Lake, 2018 (dir. David Robert Mitchell)

One of the strangest movies of recent years, in which Garfield's character, a frustrated young man, tries to uncover a mind-boggling plot on the streets of Los Angeles. The lightness of the acting only adds to the impact of the film, which really hits hard, especially in the last 20 minutes or so. Be warned before watching the film – the movie is downright creepy and unlike anything you've ever seen before, but if you are an Angeleno yourself, you might learn something very interesting about this great but mysterious city.
