American Horror Story Season 12: A Closer Look At The Delicate First Teaser and Posters
The fact that Emma Roberts' poster is the first to be revealed is no surprise in light of her history with the show.
After the success of the eleventh season of American Horror Story, NYC, the franchise is still going strong as Season 12, Delicate, prepares to push the limits once again. With a talented cast and no end in sight for the franchise, AHS continues providing the scares after over a decade.
This time, the storyline is based on Danielle Valentine's forthcoming novel, Delicate Condition, which marks a new direction with a cult horror story about a pregnant woman caught up in a conspiracy surrounding her unborn child.
The yet-to-be-published book draws parallels to the classic horror story Rosemary's Baby, as the pregnant woman's worries grow and her husband's dismissal of her anxieties leads her to believe that sinister forces are at work and that she is being persecuted.
While the full content of Delicate remains unclear, the production of American Horror Story season 12 has also been plagued by controversy over the casting of Kim Kardashian and the ongoing WGA strike.
However, despite initial concerns over the new cast members and calls for a halt to filming in favor of fair writer's compensation, the show has continued its production and has recently released its first teaser and posters.
Though the release of the season has been pushed back to September, FX has released a trailer for The Delicate, which features the usual mix of glamor and eerie imagery, with the lead actresses appearing next to thematically foreshadowing objects. Accompanied by an appropriately creepy cover, the teaser is inspired by the nursery rhyme Rock-a-Bye, Baby.
Most notably, the trailer features Emma Roberts, Kim Kardashian, and Cara Delevingne in strikingly similar makeup and costumes, creating an uncanny resemblance that only adds to the anticipation for the 12th season of the AHS saga.
In addition to the teaser, FX also teased three new posters featuring the actresses as an appetizer for the upcoming season. Echoing the teaser's visuals, two of the eerie posters feature large spiders on Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian's stomachs, hinting at a pregnancy storyline, while the third shows Cara Delevingne smiling ominously while holding a giant syringe containing a spider.
The posters also reveal that American Horror Story: Delicate will be split into two parts, just like the franchise's tenth season, Double Feature, with the first part premiering on September 20. The reason for the two-part season is unclear, but it could be due to the strike rather than the unfinished storyline.
As fans eagerly await the Season 12 premiere, the enigmatic teaser and poster clues will undoubtedly fuel more theories and anticipation for what promises to be another unforgettable chapter in the AHS franchise.
