Deadly dangerous to each other and everyone around.

Among its many terrifying elements, American Horror Story 's toxic and dysfunctional relationships often play a crucial role in the plot. From murderous couples to walking red flags, here are the six most toxic couples on the show.

6. Cordelia and Hank Foxx (Coven)

Coven is known for its strong female characters who fear no evil and obey no one, but Cordelia Foxx falls short with her marriage to Hank. Hank turns out to be a witch hunter, and his true intentions always were to put Cordelia in grave danger as he used their relationship to harm the coven, kill other witches, and cheat on her.

Cordelia grows stronger after they separate, proving that any woman can have a glow-up if she dumps the one who drags her down.

5. Fiona Goode and the Axeman (Coven)

In Coven, Supreme Witch Fiona Goode begins a passionate but destructive affair with the violent spirit the Axeman. They have a twisted and unhealthy relationship, marked by his obsessive love for her and her manipulative use of him.

In the end, Fiona orchestrates the Axeman's demise when he becomes a burden for her, but then she ends up alongside him in her own personal hell, forever trapped with someone she’s never loved.

4. The Countess and Donovan (Hotel)

The definition of toxic together, Donovan and the Countess, a couple deeply entangled in their own vices, can be characterized by drug addiction, infidelity, and a shared penchant for murder.

While the Countess saves Donovan from an overdose by turning him into a vampire, their actions together are often gruesome and murderous. They kill together and engage in unhealthy competition with each other, constantly playing with each other's feelings.

3. Ally and Ivy Mayfair-Richards (Cult)

While Ally and Ivy begin their relationship out of love, it quickly devolves into a web of lies, inequality, and gaslighting. Ivy often belittles Ally's phobias, and her involvement in Kai's cult eventually drives a wedge between them.

Their marriage becomes a power struggle with their son caught in the middle, and it is no surprise that Ally eventually takes revenge by killing Ivy.

2. Chad Warwick and Patrick (Murder House)

Imagine spending eternity with a person who doesn't make you feel like yourself and you two constantly fight. Now imagine having to spend that eternity in the same house with the possibility of leaving it only once a year.

Chad and Patrick's story in the infamous Montgomery House is probably one of the most tragic, as not only do they fall victim to the evil spirits that dwell within, but these once-happy people are doomed to remain miserable and unhappy together forever.

1. Montana Duke and Richard Ramirez (1984)

1984 introduced viewers to the show's most toxic pairing: aerobics fan Montana and infamous serial killer Richard Ramirez. Montana's obsession with revenge against Brooke leads her into a toxic relationship with the Night Stalker, who has a constant desire to kill people.

Though, in the end, Montana realizes the toxicity of their relationship, their shared bloodlust and violent tendencies make them a dangerous duo that wreak havoc not only throughout the season but throughout the entire show.

Should Violet and Tate be on the list?
