The success of Paramount Network's Yellowstone could not go unnoticed. Now Amazon wants to make its own version of the dramatic western.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will tell the story of a former criminal who is haunted by the ghosts of the past and the main character will have to make every effort to save his family and himself.

The protagonist will go on a long journey with the criminals like himself to face even greater dangers, which will help him understand that he's not as bad as he thinks.

The creators promise a show in the style of classic westerns, with traditional passion, brave men and lots of gunfire.

But what got fans excited was the fact that the creation of the project will be spearheaded by the creator of the hit show True Detective, Nic Pizzolatto.

After True Detective's first season premiered in 2014, Nic received a ton of love from audiences. Viewers were captivated by the dark and atmospheric series about murders in the wilderness.

The first season inspired a lot of fan theories on hidden meanings and sub-messages. But the main thing is that True Detective stays down to earth and answers all questions directly, history remains clear and accessible.

The untitled series will be exec produced by Mark Johnson, who previously worked on titles like Breaking Bad and Interview with the Vampire, giving even more hope for a worthy project from Amazon.

Amazon's new western series has every chance of success, in part because Yellowstone 's star, Kevin Costner, is rumored to leave the project after the fifth season.

Rumor has it that Costner and series creator Taylor Sheridan have not agreed on a shooting schedule, as the actor is busy with other projects, including his own feature-length western movie.

Many fans of the show see only one way out of this situation — to kill off Costner's character, John Dutton.

Moreover, there is a growing feeling among fans that the fifth season has lost its grip and can no longer offer anything new to the audience.

And Amazon has already made sure that fans will have somewhere to go when Yellowstone is over.
