Almost 30 Years Later, Prime Video's Most Heart-Pumping Thriller Still Robs Reddit of Sleep

Its plot revolves around the young Lola, who receives a devastating phone call from her boyfriend Manni. It turns out that he lost 100,000 Deutschmarks that he was sent to bring to his gangster boss, and he begs Lola to somehow find the necessary amount of money in only twenty minutes and to save him from the potential criminals’ revenge.

As the main heroine starts running in search of a way out and as the clock ticks down, we observe how her tiny and seemingly insignificant choices become crucial for the situation. The movie is done at such a fast speed, it can blow one’s mind with its turns.

For this it is really reminiscent of Robert Pattinson ’s Good Time (2017), following the man’s dangerous race in New York, or even Ashton Kutcher’s The Butterfly Effect (2003) and Jared Leto ’s Mr. Nobody (2009), also exploring the theme of life-changing decisions.

The thriller has it all: stylish cinematic code, slamming techno soundtrack, co-produced by the director, Tom Tykwer, himself, and the impeccably-written plot that will surely amaze even the most skeptical cinephil. The leading performance of the brilliant Franka Potente, famous mostly for the Bourne franchise, adds to the movie’s spectacularity.

Titled Run Lola Run, it definitely offers you a high-class cinematic experience.
