Considering that we have just enjoyed an entire season of Queen Charlotte, it is highly likely that Bridgerton's season 3 won't be released for quite some time.

That isn't stopping fans from making up theories about the upcoming season.

The creators have made a bold decision to skip Benedict's story (for now) and focus on Colin's in season 3.

The show isn't all that concerned with following the books too closely, but the fourth Bridgerton novel (the one about Colin and Penelope's love story) spans a decade, and fans believe that season 3 had better follow that timeline. Reasons?

Season 2 left us in shambles: Penelope is devastated and alone because Eloise has found out about her secret and now wants nothing to do with her, and Colin has no direction in his life (plus, he has firmly told some gentlemen that he would never date Penelope).

To get out of that mess, the characters need to grow, and it would definitely take them a few or more years to become worthy of each other. Therefore, season 3 absolutely needs a time jump.

The last season was set in 1814, and since the time jump is very likely to happen in season 3, fans are now worried about one character's fate. Real-life Queen Charlotte died in 1818, and we might see her go in season 3.

The character wasn't in the original books, and she has already had her time to shine in two seasons of Bridgerton and her own show.

In Queen Charlotte, she has become concerned with her kids (who we have finally gotten to know a bit) producing an heir to the throne, which might be a sign that the writers will want to stay historically accurate and kill off Charlotte in the upcoming season (if there is a time jump).

The creators of both shows have played fast and loose with certain book canon (the horrible love triangle from season 2 should never have happened) and historical events (for instance, Edward and William's marriages weren't actually arranged).

Yet they have been pretty careful with King George and Queen Charlotte's timeline, and the death of their daughter Amelia proves that.

It seems that having Queen Charlotte die in season 3 is not that far-fetched, although we would all be sad to lose such an interesting character so soon.
