Could the finale even out the score?

Although the season 3 premiere of Ted Lasso was highly anticipated not only by fans, but also by journalists and critics, it turned out to be quite a disappointment.

Eleven out of twelve episodes in, it was as clear as ever that Jason Sudeikis ' story had taken a wrong turn.

The show that was so beloved during the pandemic and really became a source of moral support for many people is now more of a chore to finish.

Many fans admit to watching out of respect for the story that was so carefully crafted over the first two seasons. However, it's hard to judge those who couldn't keep up with the episodes that suddenly became hour-long movies.

The length of the episodes could easily have been justified by the quality of the writing, but unfortunately, that's not the case with the latest season of Ted Lasso.

The show became more and more boring, which stands out in contrast to season 2.

Trying to tackle such important issues as immigration policy, racism, and homophobia, Ted Lasso is balancing between making a joke out of them or making them so forgettable as if they never happened.

As unfortunate as it is to admit, Ted Lasso himself no longer comes off as an interesting character: his struggles to stalk his wife come off as pathetic and understatedly obsessive.

The real problem, however, is that the show has sidelined the fan-favorite characters who could have easily filled the screen time.

Both Roy Kent and Rebecca Welton are left to their own devices, which is a shame considering the quality of the performances Brett Goldstein and Hannah Waddingham continue to deliver.

While Roy is simply lost for most of the season after his breakup with Keeley, Rebecca is the opposite as her storylines are all over the place.

Throughout the season, Ted Lasso's most loyal fans have been rooting for the show and really wanted to believe it could redeem itself.

At this point, it is hard to see how a predictable finale could bring the story back together. But the fans will still show up and hope that Ted Lasso will surprise them with a finale that does justice to the story.
