All Desperate Housewives Fans Hate One Character, And It’s Not Susan

The release of Desperate Housewives in 2004 was a real experiment. The story, told from the perspective of a ghost, could have been a big failure, but it turned out to be just the opposite.

In the early 2000s, almost all female viewers followed the adventures of the four women of Sex and the City. With their departure, the place was taken by four others – New York skyscrapers and expensive shoes were forgotten, and in their place came harsh family reality, housekeeping and a mysterious murder.

Susan May Be the Most Annoying Desperate Housewives Character…

Susan is considered the most annoying character on Desperate Housewives, and for good reason. As many viewers think, she pretends to be innocent, but always pursues selfish goals. Susan even stole her friend's husband.

Fans consider Susan the most selfish character – the woman always puts her problems on someone else: her husband, friends, daughter, while constantly complaining and demanding to be saved.

…But the Most Hated Character is Tom Scavo

However, there was one character who managed to anger the viewers even more – Tom Scavo, Lynnette's husband.

“I hate Tom. Actual rage whenever he is on the screen.” Reddit user Majestic_Egg67 wrote.

And it's really hard to argue with the fans – few people on the show have done so many controversial things (even Susan).

Tom Was a Selfish Child Who Made Too Many Questionable Decisions

Tom's whole life has been a series of crises and self-discovery – first he gave up his career in advertising for the sake of the family pizzeria, then he fancied himself a musician and started a band and used a suspicious garage for rehearsals, then he offered to give it all up and take his entire family on a road trip across America and live in a trailer. And in all these cases the task of thinking clearly and caring about the kids fell on Lynnette's shoulders.

One of the most egregious cases was when Tom brought his illegitimate daughter into the house, along with her crazy mother and the need to pay child support for the girl's entire life. All of this resulted in the "new daughter" openly hating Lynnette and being rude to her, despite Lynnette’s sincere attempts to improve relations with her.

In addition, Tom brought not only psychological but also physical trauma to his family – in one of the episodes he hit his child, and fans agree that it was then that Lynnette had to pack her things and leave her husband.
