After Rejecting The Winchesters, the CW Bets On Jesus Christ as Its Next Star

If a dozen or so years ago, someone told you that the CW would kill off a Supernatural prequel series after S1 and would instead become home to a historical drama about Jesus Christ, you would've likely laughed in that person's face.

Today, this is exactly the kind of news we have for you… So please, don't laugh in our faces now.

Few people truly believed that The Winchesters were going to last for more than one season after seeing how it turned out, so let's skip over that bit.

On the other hand, the newest addition to the CW's broadcasting family is way more unexpected.

The Chosen, a historical drama series about God's son and the founder of Christianity, is now joining the CW.

With three seasons already out and the fourth one in the works, The Chosen provides "an authentic and intimate look at Jesus' revolutionary life and teachings."

To catch up with the show's current progress (and land the S3 finale on Christmas Eve for the gimmick of it, of course), the CW will begin airing The Chosen's three seasons non-stop, starting later this week.

The partnership between the show and the network is looking promising as both sides are pleased with each other already.

"The Chosen is based on the biggest IP of all time and is truly a one-of-a-kind series that tells this historically significant story in a captivating, dramatic, and premium way.

This show has already connected deeply with viewers around the world, and The CW will expand its audience even further," said CW entertainment president Brad Schwartz.

While it's bold to assume that the CW has a larger audience than the protagonist of The Chosen, there's no doubt that this partnership is based on mutual respect.

As the creator of the series, Dallas Jenkins, said, he knows that his series is in good hands as Schwartz "made it clear a while ago he loves and respects The Chosen."
