“People always assumed that we were gonna make the eight films from day one, and that was never the case. It was always, ‘We're gonna make one. That did okay, so we're gonna make another one.’ We were never promised the fact that we were gonna all be coming back next year. I think we all assumed that they would replace us with half-decent actors at some point,” the Draco Malfoy star shared with Collider.

One of the worst aspects of the Harry Potter movie series is its inconsistency. With directors changing every other movie, the backdrop, atmosphere, and very rules of the Wizarding World shifted significantly between the installments. Some movies followed the source books closely while others deviated to the point of absurdity.

Tom Felton’s revelation perfectly explains why that happened. If Warner Bros. was not fully invested in the Harry Potter franchise, they didn’t plan ahead too much; when the previous movie showed great results, they began planning the next one.
