Adam Driver Explains Why He Signed Up For "Most Forgettable Movie Ever"
Famous for his portrayal of Kylo Ren in the new Star Wars trilogy, Adam Driver has moved on to more dramatic roles in emotional movies, so his return to sci-fi genre in 65 came somewhat unexpected.
Adam Driver 's new movie 65 (premiering this month in theaters) is an apparent mix of horror with blockbuster-level of sci-fi. It put Driver's character on a planet filled with dinosaurs. As per the trailer, massive CGI ensues.
Recently Adam Driver has been involved in dramas like Paterson, Marriage Story, House of Gucci, and Annett, among others.
While fans got used to his image in a franchise that spawns Galaxies far-far away, after all the dramatic roles Driver might seem a bit out of place in a movie like 65.
Although, as actor's fame goes, the whole thing might be viewed another way around: Adam Driver's merit tentatively elevates the movie in fans' eyes.
"I have a lot of faith in this one because Adam Driver seems to be pretty thoughtful when it comes to picking roles, I haven't seen him in a lot of stupid cash-grab movies, but the title is really bad," Redditor mysteryvampire says.
Other potential viewers support this opinion:
"No lie, it's the most forgettable title ever. It's just being called "The New Adam Driver Dinosaur Movie" by pretty much everyone," Redditor KaijuAlert says.
While talking about 65 in an interview with Collider, the actor has shed some light as to why he got involved in the movie in the first place.
The reason seems to be partly for the fun itself. He says that he took the role thanks to the movie having "dinosaurs and laser guns and spaceships crashing".
He admits however that the emotional aspect of 65 being "kind of a father-daughter movie" spoke to him too.
The movie got Driver connected to his inner child, and, as he puts it, to his "inner 39-year-old". And who can blame him. Because dinosaurs, you know.
