'Absolute Nightmare': Zoe Kravitz Addresses Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy Heated On-Set Fight
The relationship between the actors on the set developed in much the same way as the relationship between Max and Furiosa.
The fact that during the work on Mad Max: Fury Road the main actors, Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy, could not find a common language was already known as actors themselves admitted it.
However, details of the situation became known from a fragment of the book Blood, Sweat & Chrome by Kyle Buchanan, dedicated to the creation of the movie by George Miller.
Moreover, Zoe Kravitz, who also played in the movie, admitted that relationship between two actors were pretty strained.
On various occasions, there were skirmishes between the actors, and the filming would not move forward until both calmed down.
Often they even refused to talk or look at each other until they were in front of the camera.
The biggest scandal between Theron and Hardy occurred when everyone was getting ready to shoot one of the scenes in the truck.
It was in the morning and work was supposed to start at eight o'clock, but while Theron was on time as usual, her colleague was several hours late – he appeared at three.
All the while, the actress waited in the car and refused to get out.
According to a member of the camera department, when Hardy finally came, the actress was already so mad that she screamed:
"Fine the f***ing c**t a hundred thousand dollars for every minute that he's held up this crew."
This pissed Tom off, and he reacted in a way that was no less aggressive:
"What did you say to me?"
After this argument, the actress was afraid of Tom's emotional reactions and made sure that she always had a producer with her who could resolve the most tense situations.
Although the director was initially reluctant, fearing that an outsider would interfere with his work, the actress got her way – with producer Denise Di Novi helping to resolve conflicts.
Actress Zoe Kravitz admitted in an interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, that the actors really didn't get along.
She added that shooting in the desert for a long time is crazy and the set starts to feel like a children's summer camp where everyone is bound to have issues with someone.
However, after the end of the filming, the tension between the actors subsided and Tom even sent Charlize a gift – a self-portrait with a note.
The note said: "You are an absolute nightmare, but you are also f***ing awesome. I'll kind of miss you. Love, Tommy."
Later the actor said that Charlize is one of the best actresses in Hollywood.
So, that's what six months of filming in the desert could do to you.
