A ‘World-Destroying’ Supernatural Reunion Is Closer Than Ever, Eric Kripke Teases
There are a lot of possibilities.
To say that Supernatural has had a major impact on modern television would be an understatement. Mixing the procedural formula with fantasy and horror elements, the story of two brothers traveling the country fighting evil eventually created an army of fans who are now clamoring for a reunion.
Technically, the 15th and final season of Supernatural has already put a full stop to the arcs of both Winchester brothers. However, there is a way to break the Internet again without rebooting the show at all.
Will Jared Padalecki Be on The Boys?
It's no secret that Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, who now runs one of the most popular streaming TV series, The Boys, has been toying with the idea of reuniting Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki for some time. Ackles' appearance on The Boys as Soldier Boy made that dream even more real.
However, the timing was not right for Padalecki to leave his The CW western Walker until it was canceled by the network. Now that it's done, Kripke has already confirmed his plans to recruit the actor for the 5th and final installment of The Boys. What's even better is that he will now have the power to bring Ackles and Padalecki's characters together.
“The value of that is to break the internet. So we'll see whether it's right for the story. But yes, it's occurred to me that putting those two in a scene together would destroy much of the world, and that's appealing,” Kripke teased to Entertainment Weekly.
Knowing how much traction every other installment of The Boys already gets, the show doesn't really need another push to make it even more popular. However, the army of Supernatural fans waiting for any news on the potential season 16 reboot could be powerful enough to make the show break all records.
Now that Padalecki is completely free of any obligations to The CW, he can choose to work with Kripke on other projects as well, so even if the boys' reunion does happen, fans won't let go of their hopes of seeing him reunite with Ackles as the Winchester brothers in the years to come.
If you're interested in seeing what the dynamic duo can bring to our screens, be sure to keep an eye out for any news or behind-the-scenes updates on The Boys and Supernatural. In the meantime, you can tune in to The Boys season 4 every Thursday on Prime Video.
