'80s It Girl Star Molly Ringwald Has Fans Calling Her ‘Insufferable Diva’
The most popular 80’s actress has received claims about her previous behavior after her recent return to television.
Summary:
- Molly Ringwald’s new role in Ryan Murphy's series has become a reason for the users’ speculations on her star reputation.
- She herself admitted she wasn’t prepared for such an enormous popularity.
Molly Ringwald, the muse of the director John Hughes and the star of his 80’s movie anthems The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink, came back to big screens in Ryan Murphy's Feud: Capote vs The Swans series for FX channel. Since her return fans have speculated about her "girl next door" reputation and whether she fitted her star status.
One user even shared what they described to be a first-hand experience.
“She came to my town to sing and was an insufferable diva who refused to meet any of the locals here. I was part of the performing arts group that hosted her, and she was awful,” said Redditor happyflowerzombie.
The actress’ disrespectful behavior was also addressed in the whole article by the blogger Mike the Fanboy. There he described the story of how disingenuous Ringwald seemed to be at her book signing, even calling her even a “nasty b**ch”.
Aside from the fact that, to Mike’s opinion, the 80s star was loosely trying to be nice and to fake a smile on her face, she refused to give an autograph to one elderly lady as well as she yelled at the person asking her to get a photo with her, not being nice and friendly at all.
Ringwald herself is convinced she was the victim of producers, who, back in the 80s, were trying to make a “sweet American girl next door” of her by force. She revealed her own truth in a 2013 The Guardian interview: “It was the very opposite of me."
Despite all the privileges she got, being an icon of the whole generation, she paused her acting career and moved to Paris in the '90s. Later she explained it the way she couldn’t withstand that level of popularity and broke feeling uncomfortable to continue the path of starring in films about nice, conventionally looking and mentally stable girls.
Regarding her new project, it is pointed out that Molly Ringwald is still the ‘It’ girl in Feud: Capote vs. the Swans, but, nevertheless, is looking forward to offers to play an angry psycho, also given the fact she is a huge fan of some specific Scandinavian filmmakers, Joachim Trier and Ruben Östlund.
Let’s hope she’ll get the roles she deserves with her desire to switch the accent from the it-ness to her evil side of the character.
