A guide to your next favorite TV show.

Even though Chicago Fire has gone through a lot of changes recently, including some major cast departures, fans will still be joining Firehouse 51 when it returns from its summer hiatus. However, while we all wait for the glorious return of Season 13, there is still time to dive into other shows.

Here are 8 other shows that perfectly capture the Chicago Fire vibe and focus on the lives of those who risk it all to save others.

Chicago PD (2014-...)
Chicago Med ( 2015-...)

Chicago Fire was the very first show in the One Chicago series that started the franchise, but then came Chicago PD and captured the hearts of viewers. NBC was never short of police procedurals, but something about the way the Chicago PD team operated made the show so much more fun and relatable that it has stuck around to this day.

Chicago Med, which came out just a year later, rounded out the universe perfectly, taking the best parts of Fire and PD and putting them into the classic medical drama. If you have only seen Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med are must-watch shows that will make you appreciate the entire franchise and the way all three shows balance each other out.

Fire Country ( 2022-...)

One of the newest series in the genre and already a strong player among others is Fire Country, a CBS take on firefighting teams. The action-drama show was created by Max Thieriot, who also stars as Bode Leone, an inmate who seeks redemption through his work as a firefighter.

Like Chicago Fire, Fire Country shows all sides of the profession, not shying away from the ugliest parts and hard truths. Perhaps that is what makes it so refreshing to watch. Today, Fire Country is one of the most promising firefighting shows on television.

9-1-1 (2018-...)

Ryan Murphy's 9-1-1 originated on Fox, but recently had to move to ABC for its 7th season. While many fans were worried that the network change would affect the high quality of the show's production or the lighthearted way the show usually approaches its character, 9-1-1 has only gotten better.

The show has now been renewed for its 8th season on ABC, and it promises to be just as impressive as the previous one. So if you are looking for something new to watch, 9-1-1 is worth a try.

Station 19 (2018-2024)

Even though ABC was happy to acquire a new firefighting show, it ended up in a cancellation of one of the network's on. Created as a Grey's Anatomy spin-off, Station 19 has grown into a great show in its own right over the years and has gathered a lot of fans around it.

Saying goodbye to a good show is never easy, and Station 19 fans fought until the very end, almost making the show's move to Netflix a real possibility. However, all that is left now is to enjoy these wonderful 7 seasons that the show gave us.

Tacoma FD (2019-2024)

Tacoma may not have many fires to fight due to the city's consistently high humidity, but that doesn't mean there isn't a need for firefighters. People continue to rely on first responders to get them through some of the most absurd situations, and Tacoma FD has shown them all in the most hilarious way.

As one of the few unique firefighting shows without actual tragedies, Tacoma FD is a perfect 4-season comedic respite from all the drama of other series.

Live Rescue (2019-2021)

Live Rescue is a unique series for this list because it's the only one that captures reality over fiction. The show follows the camera crew as they work side-by-side with actual first responders on their calls, capturing some of the most difficult and dangerous tasks they face.

The reality show format allows Live Rescue viewers to feel as close as possible to the teams the crew rides with, and the variety of situations they end up in shows how unique and different each case is from the next.

The First Responders (2022-2023)

If you don't mind watching shows with subtitles on, The First Responders could be your next favorite show. A K-drama that follows three main characters, a firefighter, a police officer, and a paramedic, the show will surprise you with its production value and quality of writing.

The First Responders is only two seasons long, but it is so well acted that the characters and the dangerous situations they find themselves in will live in your mind rent-free for the longest time.
