Based on the 2013 manga series Kounodori by You Suzonoko, Dr. Storks tells the story of a gifted and respected obstetrician/gynecologist who also happens to be an immensely talented jazz pianist. Gifted actor Go Ayano brings such warmth and depth to the title role, perfectly capturing the compassionate spirit of the character.

Watch if you like: The way Doctor Slump showed doctors as real people who exist outside of a medical setting.

2. Hospital Playlist (2020)

One of the most endearing and beloved South Korean dramas of all time, Hospital Playlist follows the lives of five very different doctors. They met while in medical school and all ended up working at the same medical center. Now in their forties, they navigate life and relationships both in and outside of work, and we, the audience, are along for the ride. The brilliant ensemble cast works perfectly together.

One of the newer entries on our list, Doctor Cha follows the story of a woman who resumes her medical career after 20 years as a stay-at-home mom. In the process, she learns that not only does her husband not appreciate the sacrifices she made in raising their children while he furthered his own career, but that he is also shamelessly cheating on her. How she handles all of this is mind-blowingly impressive. Doctor Cha is an inspiring and upbeat drama.

Watch if you like: How Doctor Slump reminded us that doctors are not perfect, yet those with good hearts will always overcome adversity.

4. Daily Dose of Sunshine (2023)

This drama is warm and tender, highlighted by stunning performances from Yoon Kye-sang and Ha Ji-won in the lead roles.

7. It's Okay to Not Be Okay (2020)

When he ends up living and working there again, she follows him, having developed a romantic obsession for him. The premise may sound creepy, but as the tale unfolds, we see the pair, and his brother, form a unique bond that ultimately heals all three of them.
