6 Prime Original Shows to Watch for Free in December 2023
With so many shows out there these days, it can be hard to sort through them all.
With that in mind, we’ve picked out 6 heart pounding Prime Original shows to get you through the holidays.
Sneaky Pete (2015)
Number of Seasons: 3
Created by the killer combo of Bryan Cranston and David Shore, this dramedy/crime caper deserves way more buzz. Marius is a con man who owes money to the wrong people. He tries to get out of trouble by taking on the life of Pete, his old cell mate, and ingratiating himself with Pete’s long-lost family. However, they have their own secrets – and Marius can’t quite escape his past, which is coming to get him.

Goliath (2016)
Number of Seasons: 4
Billy Bob Thornton stars as a disgraced lawyer who spends more of his time drinking at the bar than being called to the bar (that’s a legal pun!). But when he gets the opportunity to pursue a wrongful death case against his ex-firm’s biggest client, he decides to step back into the ring.
The final season is considered the finest of the series, and introduces JK Simmons as an excellent new villain.

Bosch (2015)
Number of Seasons: 7
Based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling series of books, Bosch follows an NYPD detective through a series of long-form cases and interpersonal dramas. In Season One, Bosch investigates the killing of a 12-year-old boy and the murder of a film producer with mob ties. In the meantime, he undergoes a court trial after shooting a suspect in self-defense.
If seven seasons aren’t enough for you, Bosch: Legacy is a spin-off series that can be viewed on Amazon FreeVee.

Homecoming (2018)
Number of Seasons: 2
It’s common for television shows to be inspired by books, but this one is actually based on a podcast of the same name. Julia Roberts stars as Heidi, a waitress who only vaguely remembers her former job at the Homecoming Transitional Support Centre. There, she was a social worker helping to rehabilitate soldiers with PTSD. When an investigator starts asking questions, it becomes clear to Heidi that there are terrifying gaps in her memory.
Season 2 features a new mystery and new cast, but keeps the intensity and the tone of the first season.

Alex Rider (2020)
Number of Seasons: 2
Alex is just a teenager when his uncle dies – but there are no hospital records, and as Alex digs deeper he becomes convinced that there’s more to the story. Sure enough, it turns out that his uncle was a spy for MI6, and all of Alex’s digging has brought him to the attention of the agency. Soon he’s been recruited and sent undercover to an elite boarding school, where he discovers a shadowy plot.
Based on the bestselling books by Anthony Horowitz, there is a third season expected in 2024.

Utopia (2020)
Number of Seasons: 1
Based on the British series of the same name and written by Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl), Utopia follows a group of teens who discover an underground comic book has successfully predicted all the major diseases in history. Soon, they realize that they have uncovered a massive conspiracy, and it’s up to them to save the world.
Utopia was canceled after its first season in 2020, undoubtedly because the subject matter of a global pandemic wasn’t much fun for anyone to tune into.
