Relax, these ones won’t rob you of sleep. Probably.

Horrors are movies for the brave ones, as they use horrendously scary tropes to keep you on the edge of your seat. However, there are still some genre’s staples that are kind of feel-good and nostalgic, and you can watch them even if you’re not into horror tales.

Here are 6 of Reddit’s comfort horror gems that you shouldn’t miss.

1. Scream ( 1996)

First entry in today’s list is the first Scream movie that was a back-then sensation in the subgenre of slashers, telling the story of a high school student who becomes the target of a costumed serial killer known as Ghostface. It’ll certainly take you back to the 1990s.

2. Event Horizon (1997)

By blending science fiction and horror, this gem became one of the cultish 90s flicks too. Starring The Matrix ’s Laurence Fishburne, it follows a space crew on a mission to locate a missing spaceship, and this story won’t leave sci-fi enjoyers indifferent at all.

3. Halloween (1978)

Here comes John Carpenter’s classic slasher that focuses on a mental patient, Michael Myers, who escapes the psychiatry and returns to his hometown with an idea to perform his bloody revenge. Be sure this synopsis promises a number of curious twists.

4. Candyman (1992)

This gothic supernatural horror may seem unwatchable for a non-horror fan, but we bet you should give it a shot. It follows a graduate who completes a thesis about urban legends and then falls victim to the most frightening legendary ghost herself.

5. Rosemary’s Baby (1968)

Next is a slow-burn horror that still feels modern, even though it was released more than 55 years ago. Directed by Roman Polanski, it tells the story of a woman who suspects that her neighbors are members of a Satanic cult that wants her unborn baby.

6. Jaws (1975)

Last comes the best shark film ever made that gives strong 70s vibes. Steven Spielberg ’s masterpiece follows a police chief, a biologist and a shark hunter in an attempt to beat a large shark attacking beachgoers at a resort. If you still haven’t seen it, why not?
