6 New Crime Movies Streaming on Netflix in November 2023

Netflix has a huge library of great crime-themed movies and series, whether it's crime dramas, psychological thrillers, or true crime documentaries.

Fortunately, this November, there are 6 intriguing movies available on the streaming service. Some are better, some are worse, but avid crime fans are sure to have a great time watching them.

6. The Devil on Trial

Release date: October 17

A new documentary is based on the infamous trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, who murdered his landlord in 1981in connection with the alleged possession of 12-year-old Debbie Glatzel.

Unfortunately, even though the movie provides thoughtful background on the events and attempts to examine both sides of the case in an unbiased manner, it received a measly 36% critics score and 47% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes for offering too shallow an overview of the events.

5. Vjeran Tomic: The Spider-Man of Paris

Release date: October 20

As the title suggests, the movie follows a man dubbed Spider-Man by the French press. In 2010, Vjeran Tomic, an experienced burglar with exceptional parkour skills, managed to sneak into the Musée d'Art Moderne and steal priceless works by a Matisse, a Picasso, a Braque, a Modigliani and a Léger. The movie hasn't gotten many reviews yet, but everyone agrees on the fascinating way the story is told.

4. Pain Hustlers

Release date: October 27

Pain Hustlers promised to be one of the highest-profile releases of the fall, as it was directed by David Yates and starred Emily Blunt and Chris Evans. The plot follows a high school dropout who lands a job at a pharmaceutical start-up. However, thanks to her charm and charisma, the protagonist is drawn into a criminal enterprise involving the sale of addictive fentanyl.

Although critics praised Blunt and Evans' performances, the film scored only 24% on the Tomatometer. Critics complained about poorly written characters and a rushed ending that failed to focus on the consequences of the protagonists' actions, making them seem like victims rather than people who died because of a cynical pharma business.

3. Locked In

In 2017, Rowan Joffe produced the critically acclaimed crime drama Tin Star, starring Tim Roth, and then wrote the screenplay for the relatively warmly received The Informer. His new work, Locked In, starring Famke Janssen, follows a paralyzed patient who attempts to communicate with a nurse by blinking to tell a macabre tale of murder and betrayal within her family.

Unfortunately, according to critics and audiences (whose ratings on Rotten Tomatoes were 33% and 23% respectively), the film was not as much of a psychological thriller as it claimed to be, but rather a psychological torture with a horribly written script and predictable twists.

2. Cyberbunker: The Criminal Underworld

Release date: November 8

Cyberbunker: The Criminal Underworld is another relatively niche documentary that, according to the few critics and viewers who have reviewed it, is definitely worth a watch. The story is about CyberBunker, a hacker network set up in a Cold War-era German bunker. Although the work of the filmmakers was highly praised, the film was still difficult to watch due to the very narrow libertarian views of the hackers themselves.

1. The Killer

Release date: November 10

David Fincher's The Killer, an adaptation of the French comic book of the same name starring Michael Fassbender, is the highest-rated film on the list. Critics gave the film an 86% rating, while audiences gave it only a 62% rating, praising Fassbender's performance as the neurodivergent character turned killer, as well as the visual effects, but slamming the narrow, nihilistic narrative.
