It’d be magically perfect if the new adaptation does it.

The Harry Potter fandom is still reeling from the news about the reboot of our favorite wizarding franchise. While we know almost nothing about HBO’s upcoming series, we can speculate on how it can do justice to the original books and fix the movies’ mistakes.

Here are 6 HP movie flaws we hope would be improved by the show.

1. Ron’s Personality Is Simplified

Indeed, “give Ron his actual lines,” as voiced by Redditor @JaguarSweaty1414. The point is Ron’s role in the movie franchise is atrociously cut down, and the show can spend more time showing that he was a highly skilled chess and Quidditch player, for example.

2. The Absence of Many Characters

Of course, it’s impossible to cover all the book characters and their lines, but the movies cut some of the important ones entirely. These include the poltergeist Peeves, the sports enthusiast Ludo Bagman, and Winky the house-elf, who really made a difference.

3. Neglection of the Marauders’ Backstory

While we aren’t promised to get a Marauders prequel movie, let’s hope HBO’s show will give more insight into the stories of James and Lily Potter and his friends, Black, Lupin and Pettigrew. Besides, the movies’ lack the story about Lily and Snape’s friendship.

4. Hermione Is ‘Too Perfect’

The movies’ redhead “steals everything from Ron and Harry in terms of lines, ideas and actions,” fairly admits @zoobatron__. It’d be great if the series shows that the trio is equally important to the story, even though they aren’t cut from the same cloth.

5. Plot Holes in the Horcruxes Line

From The Half-Blood Prince movie, we’re introduced to the Horcruxes, but the search for them is seemingly oversimplified, while Harry just finds them without much information. At the same time, in the books these devices were shrouded in mystery.

6. St Mungo’s Is Barely Mentioned

“Cutting St Mungo's is such a disservice,” claims @Tricky_Knowledge2983. Yes, St Mungo’s Hospital is often mentioned in the original novels and, moreover, it is the very place where the trio learns the awful truth about Neville Longbottom’s parents.

The first season of HBO’s show is scheduled to be aired in 2026.
