6 Hidden Netflix Gems If You Think You’ve Seen Everything
If you are tired of everything you already watched.
Netflix is one of the most successful streaming platforms, and its library is literally full of everything. And that's why some shows and movies can get completely lost in the shuffle, even though they're definitely worth watching.
Or maybe some of them were popular when they were first released, but after some time the buzz around them just stopped and we ended up with them somewhere on the back shelf of the closet.
Reddit has picked their favorite 6 hidden gems on the platform, and if you’re tired of all things mainstream, go have yourself an edgy binge session like a connoisseur that you are.
1. Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song (2021)
At the center of this mini series is a female-looking AI named Diva. She was created for literally one purpose – and it’s to make all mankind happy by her singing. After some time though Diva meets a program from the future that is on a mission to destroy AI’s and wants Diva to join him.
The fans can’t get enough of the series and the finale of it just turns the show into a masterpiece worth rewatching every once in a while.
“The only problem with this show was it was too d*mn short, like I know it's been said to countless shows but this one in particular needed maybe like 4-5 more episodes to complete itself, slap some fight scenes, more sisters, more arcs, and overall more story character development for everyone,” Redditor Eren_Jaeger1699 said.
2. The Queen's Classroom (2005)
This Japanese drama focuses on the people at Hanzaki Elementary School, where the arrival of a new teacher has changed everything. Akutsu Maya is a ruthless teacher who treats her students like soldiers and doesn't even let them use the bathroom during class.
In the same 6th grade where Maya is now teaching, there's a student named Kanda Kazumi, and it seems that there's something in her that just irritates the teacher. Every day she gives her students different tests, and those who get the lowest scores are assigned odd jobs around the class.
Guess who ends up being the worst every day?
3. American Vandal (2017)
This show will definitely be loved by fans of satire that highlights the absurdity and unfairness of the everyday lives of students with various types of criminal records.
At the center of this true-crime drama is a young student named Dylan Maxwell, who's a well-known class clown and prankster. Now, after 27 faculty cars have been vandalized with phallic images (and Maxwell is known for leaving such images everywhere), he is accused of the crime and expelled.
But is this senior really responsible for the crime?
4. Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories (2009)
Those who have seen the show claim that it has a magical effect on them, healing all the wounds left by unfortunate life experiences. The show is actually an anthology of relationship stories linked by a particular diner that is only open for a few hours a day.
All the characters in the stories usually get the answers to life's most complicated questions from the owner and chef of the Japanese place.
“This show has me completely hooked and currently binge watching which I rarely do. I love food and cooking which this series focuses on but with the spin of everyday lives of all the different customers of Tokyo. Watching from start to finish is always an enjoyable experience!” Redditor Jonuh666 said.
5. The Law According to Lidia Poët (2023)
If you don't mind subtitles, this series is perfect for anyone who appreciates powerful stories about women making a difference in the world. At the center of the story is a young woman, Lidia Poët, who was the first female lawyer in Italy.
The story is actually based on real life, as there was a woman in 19th century Turin who challenged the court decision that forbade her to practice law. The one-season series dances around the idea that anything is possible if you decide to follow your dreams.
6. Atypical (2017)
Atypical is a powerful television series that follows an 18-year-old boy named Sam. When you first meet him, he seems normal, like an ordinary teenage boy, but later you realize that he has autism spectrum disorder.
The show follows him as he tries to find peace in his life, and that means finding love and a purpose in life. His whole family joins him on this journey to make his life easier and to finally find out the truth about themselves.
