6 Christmas Shorts You Can Already Watch on Disney Plus

With so much to cram into the run-up to Christmas, and so many people to see over the festive period, it can be hard to find time to watch all the movies you’d like to.

But with these shorts and videos on Disney, you can still get into the spirit of the season:

1. Groot’s Snow Day (2023)

Running time: 4 minutes

This is essentially the 2023 Christmas episode of I Am Groot. It was first broadcast back in September and is still available to watch.

While not technically about the holiday season, this episode includes familiar Christmas elements such as hot chocolate and snow. When his ship lands on the planet of Falligar, Groot enjoys playing in the snow.

But after building a snowman, he decides to liven it up with parts of his ship. This works, but when the snowman comes to life, he just causes chaos. How will Groot stop him?

2. Le Pupille (2022)

Running time: 37 minutes

Set in an Italian convent boarding school during WWII, this short film is far from being all tinsel and sparkle. It explores some intense themes such as selfishness, desire, unfairness and a desire to fit in, but is somehow adorable.

Suitable for children and adults, it tells the story of Serafina, a lonely girl who is snubbed by her classmates and unliked by the nuns. But she’s kind at heart and won’t be pushed around. It was nominated for the Best Live Action Short Film at the 95th Academy Awards.

3. Pluto’s Christmas Tree (1952)

Running time: 7 minutes

A real classic. Pluto is with Mickey who is in the forest looking for the ideal Christmas tree. Chip ‘n’ Dale are also in the forest – and they’re up to mischief. The chipmunks hurl acorns at Pluto who chases them.

Typically, they hide in the very tree that Mickey chops down to take home and decorate. What follows is a piece of wonderful and timeless animation that ends in good cheer and a Disney Christmas sing-song.

4. Prep & Landing (2009)

Running time: 22 minutes

Wayne is an elf who has spent 227 years working in the Prep & Landing department of Santa’s delivery operation. When he gets passed over for a promotion to Director of the Naughty List (a role that is given to Peterson who was trained by Wayne), he doesn’t take it well.

Paired up with Lanny, a new recruit, Wayne slacks off when he should be helping prepare children’s homes for Santa’s arrival. But Lanny is inexperienced and not up to the job. Now there’s a risk that a young boy named Timmy may not receive a visit from Christmas. Can Wayne solve the issue and rescue Timmy’s Christmas?

5. Puppy for Hanukkah (2021)

Running time: 4 minutes

A delightful song and video about a child who wants a puppy for Hanukkah, written and performed by Daveed Diggs. Ok, so it’s not based on Christmas, but Hanukkah is just as much a part of the holiday season. And why not introduce kids to multiple celebrations?

It’s a bit of an earworm, so be prepared to have the song going around in your head for some time.

6. The Simpsons Meet the Bocelli’s in Feliz Navidad

Running time: 3 minutes

Talk about something that does exactly what it says on the tin. In this video, arguably the most famous cartoon families on the planet meet one of the finest singers of all time in a rendition of the Spanish Christmas song.

That’s it. I mean, obviously, that’s not just it. As you can imagine, there are some interesting comments from Bart and Homer. But at the end of the day, it’s another fun version of one of the most upbeat Christmas songs out there. And what more do you want?
