Along with that, South Korean industry pays a lot of extra attention to the stories that include a deeper look inside the human mind and soul, sometimes even through different universes and time periods.

We'll start the list with this amazing K-drama that revolves around Do Min Joon, an alien who landed on Earth many centuries ago, during the Joseon Dynasty period.

He decided to take on the appearance of the most handsome man he could find and transformed himself into a human with alien superpowers.

One day, he meets a young, devoted actress who looks exactly like a woman he was in love with many years ago.

But will they be able to reconnect as before? Especially since he knows he only has a few months left on Earth.

2. The Legend Of The Blue Sea (2016)

The series centers on a mermaid who accidentally ends up in a modern society while originally coming from the Joseon era.

Shim Chung follows her true love to present-day Seoul, only to find out that his doppelganger is an evil man who is only interested in crime and money.

Devastated, Shim Chung ends up in Joon Jae's house, where he discovers many dark secrets about his family's past. His life is now in danger, but will a naive and young-hearted mermaid find a way to help him and save herself?

3. Goblin (2016)

This is probably one of the most popular K-dramas, not only with the reincarnation premise, but in general. Goblin is a tale about destiny and how you can never run away from your fate.

At the center of the story is Kim Shin, ex-military man and now an immortal, who is tired of living a lonely life and wants to find his bride to ask her to kill him.

But when he finds her, everything gets more complicated. They fall in love, but death separates them several times. However, with each reincarnation they find their way to each other. Now, will they end up together for eternity?

4. Chicago Typewriter (2017)

Chicago Typewriter has a very tragic love story in it. In fact, it’s more of a love triangle, because the story follows two men and a woman through two eras: one during the 1930s Japanese occupation of Korea and the other in modern day.

They were friends in their previous life, but in present-day they started out at different places, but only to end up as friends again.

“The plot, all the soundtrack, and character development are superb except for the acting which I think is just above average. However, it is so damn good it's like there's an imaginary curve of intensity in my head that's going up and up every time I proceed from one episode to another,” Redditor autisticarvin said.

5. Abyss (2019)

At the center of this K-drama are two almost similar tropes: reincarnation and body-switching. The two main characters, played by Park Bo Young and Ahn Hyo Seop, die separately in different accidents, but are reborn into new bodies at the very same moment.

While one of them ends up looking perfect, the other one... is an ugly duckling.

However, their destinies cross and they both begin to realize that their deaths were not accidents at all.

6. Hotel Del Luna (2019)

This extremely popular 2019 K-drama follows Man Wol, a pretty bossy hotel owner who is actually very old… like a thousand years old. And who is a better fit for the role than IU, right?

Well, the hotel she owns is actually a stopover of souls who have unfinished business in their past lives, and only after finishing all of them they would find a way to their new lives. And Man Wol is there to witness them all in their different lives.

“The writing itself was only pretty average, but the acting, wardrobe, and ESPECIALLY the cinematography and thematic coloring made it enjoyable to watch, it was so good,” Redditor fabwatercolors said.
