Sometimes a supporting character ends up being hated even more than the villain.

It is great when TV show creators come up with a villain that the audience truly hates, like Joffrey in Game of Thrones.

But sometimes a character who is supposed to be likable is written in such a way that he or she ends up being hated by fans even more than the antagonist.

Here are five such examples.

Trish Walker ( Jessica Jones )

The adoptive sister and best friend of the titular private investigator, Trish was considered by fans to be a not great, but tolerable character.

That all changed in the show's second season, when she became increasingly annoying, to the point where fans almost skipped every scene with her in it.

Even though it makes sense with Trish's character development, fans just can't bring themselves to like her in any way.

Beth Dutton (Yellowstone )

Not every character has to be likable, but they have to have at least some redeeming qualities, unless they are antagonists.

This is not the case with Beth, as she constantly acts as disrespectful as possible to everyone, and then walks away whenever she wants for maximum effect.

Some fans have even admitted to quitting the show because of her.

Gina Linetti (Brooklyn Nine-Nine)

One of the most annoying characters in all of media according to some fans, scenes with Gina are just painful to watch.

Even though her whole relationship with all the Boyles was entertaining, her humor was mostly based on cruelty and she constantly sexually harassed Terry, which made fans hate her.

Hughie Campbell (The Boys )

Despite being the character the audience is supposed to identify with, Hughie is portrayed as a mostly useless man-child who acts with his emotions and pales in comparison to his own teammates.

Some fans are even offended by such a generic and boring representation.

Skyler White (Breaking Bad )

At first, it seems that the audience is supposed to feel sorry for Skyler: a middle-aged pregnant woman with a disabled son and a seriously ill husband.

However, as the seasons went on, she became extremely annoying, making it hard to feel sympathy for her.

Of course, she was supposed to be like that, a voice of reason of sorts, but all too many fans found themselves thinking, "Oh, shut up already."
