Let the battle begin in the comfort of your own home.

While we all enjoy our slightly glamorous and romantic period dramas like Bridgerton, sometimes we crave a little more action. Luckily, there are many historical dramas that can easily satisfy this craving with the most dynamic and well-choreographed battle scenes.

Here are 5 of the shows that will show you all the dangers of the Middle Ages, as well as its beauty. All of them are available to stream on Netflix, Hulu or Max.

Rome (Max)

Despite the original plan to run the series for five seasons, and largely positive reviews from both audiences and critics, Rome was canceled after season 2 due to the high cost of production. However, these costs definitely paid off in the end, making the show one of the best historical dramas on television.

The Last Kingdom (Netflix)

The Last Kingdom began as a BBC production but was later picked up by Netflix. It begins as an adaptation of the first two novels in Bernard Cornwell's series The Saxon Stories, and later follows the order of the novels into the seasons. The show contains just enough battle scenes to satisfy your craving for medieval scenery.

Vikings ( Hulu)

The hit show that has drawn millions of viewers to their TV screens focuses on the life of a Viking named Ragnar Lodbrok. It has everything you could ever want from such a show, from hot and steamy scenes to very well-choreographed battle scenes. This is the show that won't let you get bored for a second.

Game of Thrones ( Max)

Of course, Game of Thrones is not a historically accurate show, but a loose interpretation of the Middle Ages in a fantasy-based world. However, there are enough scenes of tournaments and real battles with a high quality of production to make up for the dragons and other superficial creatures that may appear here and there.

Rise Of Empires: Ottoman (Netflix)

This show might just be one of the best medieval pieces on Netflix, as it is much more historically accurate to the chosen time period, but still just as exciting and entertaining. If you are interested in the story of the fall of Constantinople and want to see a truly authentic TV show set in the period, you should definitely tune in to this show.
