Ever since Potterheads first saw the iconic Sorting Hat, they have been obsessed with the notion of which Hogwarts House they would be placed in.

The internet is filled with quizzes and personality tests that claim to reveal which particular house someone would wind up in.

Gryffindor is, of course, the most popular. Valuing courage, bravery, nerve, and chivalry, it makes sense fans want to be sorted here.

Not only is it Harry Potter 's house; it is also the one that produced some of the Wizarding World's most beloved, brave, and incredible witches and wizards.

Harry's parents, his two best friends, Ron (Ron's entire family, in fact) and Hermione, Minerva McGonagall, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Neville Longbottom, and of course, the legendary Albus Dumbledore.

Slytherin House feels at the opposite end of the spectrum. Ambition, resourcefulness, determination, and cleverness sound like admirable traits, but Slytherin's all too often seem to manage to twist these into nefarious ones.

Seen as being "evil" and with good reason, given Voldemort and almost all his Death Eaters came from there.

Indeed, between Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix LeStrange, and Dolores Umbridge, Slytherin House boasts the most hated witches and wizards in the entire Wizarding World.

Ravenclaw seems to fit somewhere between these two extremes. Neither adored nor hated, it rests comfortably and quietly admired for its pursuit of knowledge, intelligence, creativity, wisdom, and wit.

It gave us the unforgettable characters Luna Lovegood, Cybil Trelawney, Cho Chang, Padma Patil, and of course, Moaning Myrtle.

Then there is Hufflepuff. Justice, hard work, patience, loyalty, and niceness are what makes a Hufflepuff. On the surface, these values sound pretty good.

So, why is Hufflepuff the worse Harry Potter House? Why Hufflepuff and not the dreaded Slytherin?

There are in fact, five big reasons why Hufflepuff, is, always was, and always will be, the absolute worst Hogwart's House.

One: Even the Sorting Hat Said That Their Values Are Boring

Just above it says that these values look good on the surface. But look closer. Justice. A desire for what is right without Gryffindor's courage. Hard work.

The ambition of Slytherin without purpose. Patience. Ravenclaw's wisdom without the rewards. Loyalty. The chivalry from Gryffindor without common sense. Niceness. Surely this one needs no comment.

Indeed, it seems as if the values of Hufflepuff are as weak as the members themselves. Hufflepuff is the House for everyone who is not quite good enough to fit into one of the others.

Even the Sorting Hat confirmed that Helga Hufflepuff took on the students who were rejected by the other three founders.

Two: Even Their Strongest Alumni Were Weak

There is no denying that Hufflepuff has produced some deeply loved witches and wizards. Cedric Diggory, Nymphadora Tonks, and Alastor "Mad Eye" Moody.

Now what else do these three have in common? That's right. They're dead.

Regrettable, absolutely. It broke Potterhead's hearts everywhere when these wonderful characters met their ends.

But it is very telling that by the time the Battle of Hogwarts was over, not a single hero remained from Hufflepuff House.

Three: They Have Made Zero Contribution to the Wizarding World

When looking at the history of the Wizarding World, some names just jump out instantly.

Harry Potter, his parents, Dumbledore, McGonagall, the entire Weasley family, Severus Snape, Horace Slughorn, Hagrid, Sirius Black, Neville Longbottom and his parents, Luna Lovegood and her father, and of course, Dobby the adorable house elf.

The contributions these people made to the Wizarding World are staggering. And look again. Not a single one of those people is a Hufflepuff.

To add insult to injury, they have also never won a Quidditch final or the house cup at Hogwarts. Not even once in the school's more than thousand years.

Four: They Are Just Too Nice

It is a well-known joke amongst Potterheads that Hufflepuff are almost too nice for their own good.

In a similar vein to their values being boring but looking even closer, this is a house that is so nice, that it has zero backbone.

The other houses have innate qualities that make them very difficult, if not impossible to push around. Gryffindor are too brave, Slytherin are too determined, and Ravenclaw are too wise.

Hufflepuff seem destined to always be the straggling underdog of the other three houses, are they are just too mildly natured and easily swayed.

Five: Despite Everything Else, They Still Have a Major Bullying Problem

Reading the above, it is easy for the uninitiated to the Wizarding World could be mistaken for thinking that Hufflepuff are perfect little angels and the victim of the other three houses in every situation.

They never win anything likely because they are just too nice. And yet, against all odds considering their core values, Hufflepuff has a serious problem with bullies in their house.

Ernie McMillan was a Hufflepuff and the horrible boy responsible for the "Potter Stinks" badges in Goblet of Fire, as if Harry did not have enough to deal with that year. And of course, Zacharias Smith.

The sneaky, nasty, cruel, and ultimately traitorous former member of Dumbledore's Army who fled the castle, pushing aside and tripping over tiny first-year students as he went, to avoid the Battle of Hogwarts.
