5 Proofs All Of Us Can Relate To Homer Simpson
We'd love to see your face when you realize it's true.
The Simpsons is one of the most iconic shows on TV despite the fact that it is actually a cartoon. The animated series that have been on air since 1989 and now are on season 35, and needless to say that every episode of it is iconic and deserves our attention.
The story of the show revolves around the Simpsons family, you probably know that there are five of them: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Of course, there are many other important characters in the series that we can't even imagine the show without, but today is not about them.
Each Simpson has their own personality traits, good or bad, but there is one particular character among them all that is 100% relatable, even if it may come as a surprise to you. Here are 5 proofs that you and Homer Simpson have a lot more in common than you might think.
Seeking Comfort In Food
There’s no point in denying that a great meal can save a bad day. And Homer Simpson knows that best. How many times have we seen him enjoying a donut or heard how much he loves ribs or brisket? We dare you to find us at least one episode where he doesn’t talk about food.
Many of us also seek comfort in our favorite meals. It doesn’t need to be something fat or necessarily a junk food piece, but just something that makes you forget about your tough day at work. Add to that a can of beer or a smoothie – and you’ll end up on cloud nine.
Wanting Easy Money
Another thing that needs no proof is that everyone wants to be rich, and it is better if we don't work hard for it. Can you count how many times Homer ended up in tricky situations because of his desire to get rich overnight after trusting in financial pyramids or some other questionable schemes? Well, maybe in real life we're more careful, but we still can't deny that easy money is a desirable thing for all of us.
Sometimes Kids Can Be Annoying
Many viewers criticize Homer for being an inconsiderate father: they cannot forgive his lack of interest in Lisa's saxophone lessons and other know-it-all talents, and the many times he strangles Bart is not something a "good parent" would do either.
But let's face it: it's not fun to listen to your daughter being right about everything and proving you to be an imbecile every day. So it's okay to be a little irritated, and it doesn't mean you don't love your child. How many of you have wished someone would say that out loud?
He Loves His Family and Is Willing to Sacrifice for Them
Another thing about Homer that many of us can relate to is actually his attitude towards his loved ones. He has proven many times that deep down he is very passionate about his family's happiness and is willing to give up almost anything to make it right for them. Do we really need to ask you if you feel the same way about your dearest and nearest?
He Is Lazy
Despite the trend to make a fuss about being productive and waking up at 6am and having multiple jobs, nobody really does it for real. Homer Simpson is as lazy as they come, in fact we think he never actually worked a full day while he was at the power plant.
The only difference between lazy Homer and lazy us is that he actually embraces his laziness, while we try to hide it under a mask of productivity and self-care.
