Strap in for an adventure back in time.

While the whole world is praising Cillian Murphy for his performance as Robert Oppenheimer, those who knew him long before Christopher Nolan 's movie came out are already missing him on the small screen. Even though Peaky Blinders just ended in 2022, loyal fans can't seem to find anything to replace it.

If you're still feeling down about the lack of Peaky Blinders news, you'll probably be happy to turn your attention to something similar. Here are 5 period TV dramas that will make your life without Peaky Blinders a little easier:

Boardwalk Empire

If you are looking for a show that not only has a similar vibe to Peaky Blinders, but is also somewhat close in premise, HBO's Boardwalk Empire is just what you need. Both are set in the 1920s and 1930s and follow the hardships of managing the life of an organized crime group, with only a difference in location.

Ripper Street

If you enjoyed another, much more recent HBO hit, Succession, then you are in luck. Starring Matthew McFadyen, Ripper Street is set in Victorian England in the wake of the Jack the Ripper murders. As you can imagine, there's no shortage of gore and twisted investigations, so there's no chance of getting bored.

Penny Dreadful

You would definitely find this show enjoyable if you are a fan of a little fantasy on top of the dark and slightly steampunk vibes. This show won't imitate the plot of Peaky Blinders and you won't find it that similar, but it is a great show and a perfect match for those who enjoy the dark atmosphere that Peaky Blinders suggests.

Taboo

Taboo may be the only show that comes even closer to Peaky Blinders than Boardwalk Empire, simply because it was a collaboration between two Peaky Blinders veterans, creator Steven Knight and Tom Hardy, who stars as the adventurous and slightly ruthless James Delaney.

Frontier

This show will take you back to Canada in the 1700s and will focus on the story of the fur trading business with Jason Momoa in the lead role. Just like in Peaky Blinder you will get a lot of action, mind games, and physical fights. The slightly fantasy-like setting doesn't take anything away from the plot but only makes it more enjoyable.
