5 New Stand-Up Comedy Specials Coming to Netflix in March 2024
Get your laughing gear around this lot.
If laughter really is the best medicine, then Netflix is this month's George Clooney. Whatever your taste in comedy, there's something for everyone in these 5 stand-up specials coming your way in March.
1. Hannah Gadsby's Gender Agenda
Available to stream from March 5
Award-winning Australian comic Hannah Gadsby showcases seven of the best up-and-coming comedians on the circuit.
All of the performers in this show, recorded in London, are genderqueer and will have you crying with laughter as they examine life in the modern world with its bizarre mix of acceptance and judgement.
Gadsby compares the show and adds a few jokes of her own to complement what the others have to offer. Queer people will love the diversity of world views – but this is comedy for everyone.
2. Steve Trevino Simple Man
Available to stream from March 12
He calls this show Simple Man because that's who he is. Steve Trevino is an everyman whose comedy resonates with us all because it simply describes the messed up lives we all live.
From his wife's obsession with containers to his father's spaghetti sandwiches, Trevino's unique perspective on observational comedy is a joy to watch. He's a comedian who makes you take a long, hard look at yourself and your family... and then laugh at both.
3. Red Ollero Mabuhay is a Lie
Available to stream from March 14
Filipino stand-up Red Ollero is one of the best young comedians around – but he's not quite famous yet. In this hilarious show, the irreverent comic talks about life as an almost-famous man and tackles topics like awkward sex and fast food (not at the same time).
A professional wrestler and entrepreneur as well as a rising comedy star, Red's diverse life experiences have made him sharp, funny and impossible not to love.
4. Brian Simpson Live from the Mothership
Available to stream from March 19th
From growing up in foster care to serving in the US Marine Corps, it's fair to say that Brian Simpson is a man with a broad view of the world.
These days, he channels everything he has learned throughout his life into comedy routines that highlight some of life's absurdities, expose audiences to their own flaws and demonstrate a rare appreciation of how comedy can entertain and educate in equal measure.
In this show he discusses what he hates about the rules of masculinity and opens up about his inner hater.
5. Dave Attell: Hot Cross Buns
Available to stream from March 26
US comedian Dave Attell is back with his latest show that will have audiences howling with laughter.
When it comes to comedy, Dave Attell has done it all. Sometimes described as a one-liner comedian, he's been doing stand-up since the late 80s and has also written and acted in film and TV.
He has plenty to say – and he says it in a way that is both witty and wise. He'll have you laughing in the aisles (or, in this case, on the sofa), but there's always an underlying truth to his comedy that makes it hit home.
These are just 5 of the best new comedy shows coming to Netflix in March. If they whet your appetite and get the comedy juices flowing, there are plenty more stand-up shows to enjoy.
From Ricky Gervais to Taylor Tomlinson and everyone in between, the world's most popular streaming service has become a veritable hub of top comedy talent. So make the most of it and get those endorphins pumping.
