5 Movie Scenes That Made Redditors Rage Quit Right Away
These five were the straw that broke the camel's back and made viewers stop watching immediately.
A single great scene can elevate a mediocre or even outright bad movie to a higher status, lingering in the viewer's memory long after the fact and justifying the time spent on an otherwise underwhelming flick.
Unfortunately, a particularly stupid and even offensive scene can be the final nail in the movie's coffin, causing fans to stop watching the movie right away.
Let's take a look at five such cases, as described by the Reddit community.
Dirty Grandpa (2016)
Robert De Niro is one of the most respected actors of the modern era, having starred in countless iconic masterpieces, from Goodfellas (1990) to The Irishman (2019).
With all that in mind, it's beyond comprehension what made the Hollywood veteran agree to star in the 2016 comedy Dirty Grandpa, which was drastically different from many of his other roles, and not in a good way.
The point of no return for many fans was when Zac Efron 's Jason Kelly walks in on his father, Richard Kelly, portrayed by De Niro, lying naked in a chair and shamelessly pleasuring himself to porn playing on the TV, as the poor viewers had to wash their eyes with bleach after witnessing this.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)
The Star Wars sequel trilogy was already pretty underwhelming for many fans after the release of Episode VII, but Episode VIII got off to an even more ridiculously idiotic start.
In one of the first scenes of the movie, Leia Organa is blown into space, only to discover Force powers seemingly out of nowhere and pull herself back onto the ship Superman- style.
This particular instance marked the moment after which the sequel trilogy went downhill at an even faster pace and became an insult to many fans.
The Cell (2000)
This psychological thriller about venturing into the mind of a serial killer was too pretentious and disturbing for its own good, which was not to everyone's taste.
At one point, the killer, portrayed by Vincent D'Onofrio, hangs himself on hooks over a dead body for sexual pleasure, which caused some viewers to leave the theater immediately.
Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Now, almost two decades later, fans have warmed up to the film for its nostalgic value, but upon its release it practically buried Sam Raimi 's Spider-Man film series.
The infamous dance scene, which was supposed to show Peter's "dark side," was instead the pinnacle of goofiness, causing some viewers to stop watching right away.
Batman & Robin (1997)
Batman & Robin was embarrassing in many ways, and one of the early scenes made it clear what kind of movie fans were watching.
While fighting Mr. Freeze and his goons, the titular duo used... the Bat-ice skates, and fans immediately realized that spending more time on it made absolutely no sense.
