Here are the five best new crime series of 2024, including a mystical folk thriller, a fun Agatha Christie-style project, and neo-noir shows.
1. Criminal Record, 2024-...
Two police officers from different generations clash over new evidence in a long-closed case. A frightened woman called London's emergency services. Her boyfriend had threatened her with a knife, saying that ten years ago he had slashed a woman to death and got away with it. The victim's husband was jailed for that murder.
Young Sergeant June Lenker hopes to restore justice and turns to veteran Inspector Daniel Hegarty for help. An irreconcilable conflict immediately erupts between them. Lenker is certain that Hegarty is being evasive, deliberately slowing down the investigation and hiding important evidence.
2. Sphinx, 2024
13-year-old Minke Moorman lives with her younger brother and indifferent parents. Her mother works as a politician, her father as an investigator, and they have no time to devote to their children. The tragic disappearance of Minke on her way to school forces the family to rethink their priorities.
The police found no evidence of an abduction. Three years pass and Minke suddenly appears on the street as if nothing had happened. Now she has the wings of a sphinx tattooed on her back.
The traumatized girl withdraws into herself, refuses to answer questions and behaves strangely. Perhaps a deep psychological trauma has robbed her of her mind or maybe someone is manipulating her from a distance.
3. Death and Other Details, 2024
The wealthy Collier family hires a cruise ship to sign a contract with Chinese business partners. But the cruise is not just about business. That's why their colleagues, close friends, and distant relatives come aboard.

As soon as the characters sail away from the pier, a murder occurs on the liner. Keith Trubitsky, the Collier heir, is nailed to the cabin wall with a harpoon. Imogene and Rufus begin an investigation.
4. Presumed Innocent, 2024-...
Deputy District Attorney Rusty Sabich is accused of murdering his colleague and lover Carolyn. There is too much evidence against the man, and only one strong piece of evidence in his favor – Rusty was madly in love with the woman.
Rusty's wife, Barbara, forgave her husband for his betrayal in order to save the family. But recent events, a high-profile trial and her husband's public confessions force her to reconsider their relationship.
5. Monsieur Spade, 2024

But the father has disappeared and has no plans to reunite with his daughter: he is too busy blackmailing a wealthy widow, Gabrielle, with whom Spade has already fallen in love.
Spade tricks Philippe into going to war in Algeria, sends Teresa to a nunnery, and settles down with Gabrielle at her luxurious estate. Eight years later, a widowed Spade is pulled from the pool by a grown Teresa in need of help. Six nuns have been murdered, and someone in the French village knows exactly who is behind it.
